I was reading in the readme about the installation process once more.
There is something about baldurdash fixpack mentioned, which i think is a leftover and is confusing.

Can i also use these 2 components from The Tweaks Anthology instead from Ease of Use?
  • Wear Multiple Protection Items
    This component allows players to wear more than one "X of Protection" item at a time. Players have their choice of two different implementations (originally from Ease of Use and G3/Tutu Tweaks respectively):
    No restrictions. Players can wear as many items together as they wish.
  • Multiple Strongholds (Sabre, Baldurdash, Weimer)
    This component comes in two variants. The first is the original from Ease of Use, which allows any character, regardless of class, to acquire as many strongholds as wanted...

There is an alternate available for 'Dungeon be gone' which i would like to try: Skip chateau Irenicus
Will it work together with IA?

IA has its own implementation of multiple magical items so I would not install that one.

I always do multiple strongholds to get extra content. Dungeon be gone/skip chateau Irenicus I never tried. I always just to it in about 1 hour (which is not much compared to a full IA run).

Iroumen is right, IA has its own implementation but you can use this one. It would make the game somewhat easier by allowing you to stack more protection items on the same character.

Yes, go for it. It is, in fact, mentioned as a recommended option from EoU in the installation part of the readme.

Yes. In fact, it will be recommended as the preferred option in the readme for the next version. It is more immersive and modern-looking (implementation-wise).

Hey so I have BG2:EE on Steam and currently switched my game to offline so as to not apply the patch. If it proves to be alright, could I just do the update and continue my game or does it need to be restarted?

One issue that I saw on the changelog was that the Tenser's Transformation spell now allows you to cast innate abilities.

Finally, I wanted to ask if it would at all affect the game if I cheated in an iol gem, because i lost one when selling it to Bernard in the Copper Coronet by accident, before freeing Hendak (if that even proves to be necessary).

I'd rather avoid patching if you don't want to restart. Structure of the dialogue file might change and you'll face weird misplaced texts when encountering objects and creatures already previously explored before the patch. Those are cached in the save file along with the text line references.

Almost all spells are overwritten (not patched) by IA (legacy implementation style), I don't think this should be an issue.

No, nothing bad will happen. But those are fairly common, aren't they?

Install right after Baldurdash fixpack:
Infinite Weapon, Potion and Ring/Amulet Stacking for SOA and TOB (Recommended)
Shut Up "You Must Gather Your Party Before Venturing Forth" (optional)

No check on other party members any longer? I remember running into 'Improved Spellhold' because Jaheira received 100k XP right before and was levelling up.

Hey

Is Acid Shield (and for that matter Fire Shield) working alright? It seems to deal damage not only in response to attacks, but also to damage dealt by another Acid (or Fire ) Shield spell. To clarify, you might even not take damage from the opponents Fire Shield spell because you might be protected, it still gets triggered.

No, I still continue in 2.3 for now- I will try importing it at some point, but I also didn't see anything mentioned in the patch notes for fire shield . To be clear, there isn't an endless ricochet of damage, it happens just once, Even with multiple shields on. I'm adding a screenshot where Jan and my main have both shields on and Jan hits my main.


Also on the patch front, the plan is to 1) uninstall all mods (IA and Ease of Use components), 2) patch 3) reinstall all mods and, 4) continue where I left off. You think it still might have trouble with dialogue boxes or anything else?

I was just clarifying to make sure it is something pre-existing, not influenced by 2.5

The sequence is correct, but I'd advise against patching while you have an on-going campaign.

Hey, why does Jaheira have only one attack / round with the quarterstaff and spear, where she has 2+ ? Shouldn't it be 1.5 ?

I think the APR bonus based on weapon profiencies is only for warriors (Fighters, Paladins,...)

By the way, another fun Acid Shield report.
In the Slaver ship, the wizard when hit with players with active Acid Shields, does acid damage to them instead. Maybe it's because of Spell Turning?

Yeah that's why I mentioned it.

Another thing. The new version of Sunfire is supposed to go through MR, yet when i tried it on a Skeleton Lord, it did nothing. Moreover, when i reduced its MR to below 0 it still did nothing, while a fireball damaged it. Sunfire also affected a nearby Nishruu, although it dealt 0 damage. Is it something special that Skeleton Lords have that allows them to ignore it like that?

Also, Nevaziah in the graveyard district (Edwin's quest) seems to be immune to crushing damage. Is this a new thing (from 6.0)?

Did you manage to beat him?
He is really tough for my <1Mio XP party. In my game he only can be hurt by slashing/piercing weapons, but even on these he has huge resistances (something between 70-90%).
Couldnt win this fight yesterday (his 3xADHW trigger gave me the rest).
Does any1 have reliable tactics against him with a low lvl party?
Is Mace of Disruption working on him (i mean between his 3xPfMW)?

I'm not so happy with Minsc's assigned weapon profiencies.
He comes with:
2-Handed Sword: **
Quarterstaff: *
Spears: *
2-Handed Weapon: **

He will have 17 pips at max level, this equals to 3x Grandmastery + ** in 2HW and i would like to go for Halberds (Jaheira will use spears) with him.
So what is the safest way to change the pip in Spears to Halberds and maybe redistribute the 2nd pip of 2HW? EE Keeper?

Hi

Does anyone know if IA 6.3 (or any) fix the issue where 0 damage causes a spell casting failure, i.e a 100% fire immune mage hit with a fireball causing 0 damage interrupts a spell.

I know it was in Tobex for bg, but as yet bgee doesnt have this as far as I'm aware.

If anyone knows of a bgee mod to change this please post.

Heya, had a question regarding The Good, Bad and Ugly quest.

Met the swanmay in cabin. Went for the diviner, gave him Green Wyrm Plate and then he tells me to wait for him for 1 hour. Waited 2 and he didn't show up. Does he rips me off as intended or am I supposed to meet him again there ?

Another question, concerning vagrant last quest.

Met with both swanmays in Suldanessalar, second 1 (in sealed house) told me I should get the Ruby of the Gods back (which vanished after unlocked the secret room in the tree of life area - as intended I assume). Any hints on where I can find it again ? Or should I just go with the quest and it'll eventually show up in an obvious way ?

Swanmay Lord Something told me to look for mirrors, but he doesn't tell me where I should look for those. According to what I've found on the forum I should be looking for a squirrel, but I'm kinda lost, I dunno what to do next and the vagrant questline is the only thing remaining for me party to do in SoA (but WK, though Supreme Leader is too tough for me atm. Need a bit more xp and lightning spells. Neera's my only caster.

Been there, I can see that Thax room includes big OBVIOUS mirrors, and that the pedestal where I found the Ruby in the first place indicates that there could be something more slotted in, though I clicked on everything clickable in the level (both inside and outside), seems like I can't proc anything new. Shoul'nt I speak to someone or something first ? I really just spoke to Lord Wetlander (and managed Supreme Leader since, so I could do some stuff in WK5 and get a few levels). Kinda stuck there, and I sometimes feel like the new vagrant quests would require a bit more ingame hints (necro dedicated quests in the sphere feel much more straightforward). Read something about a pennyroyal oil vendor or something on the forums, but nothing as such came up in my run. Maybe oil is required to pull something out of the pedestral ?

Good lord ! Found said squirrel, managed to spoke to him and he ran off without anything to say. Left the area and noticed by CHANCE a lil' thingie to search in, in the Tree of Life location. Found those blessed nuts and figured I was facing some structural paranoïd logic when it comes to know what to do with those quests, so I reloaded and went to the squirrel with it, which lead to a quest advancement. But... seriously ? how is one supposed to find this out ?

I have to agree that this is not straight-forward. I had some ideas to make this more intuitive but they still remain in my todo list.

Well I'd be glad to share some ideas, but overall it's just an hint when it comes to dialogues, like "try goin there" or so. And maybe SPOILER!
Male the squirrel not leave when you speak to him without nuts. Maybe just make him ask for the nuts so you can come back once you have found them

That's actually a bug, the plot shouldn't break like that. As for ideas, you're always welcome to share them. If only I had the time to work on what's already on the todo list smile.gif

nope, one of the (many) heartbreaking choices to make in IA, but this is part of its fun and balance isn't it?

Good choice Vuki!

Monk with all his buffs (IH+Diamond body + flurry of blows) and gauntlets + up amu is almost unstoppable. Resistance to most bad things, 8APR with insane damage and crazy regeneration biggrin.gif That's a killing machine even better than kensai with staff of ram or fully equipped and buffed swashbuckler! (3 of the best DPS for me since I never once used RB)

i never played the swashbuckler in IA.

Can u explain how it gets that good damage output and survival ?

Firstly Swash is a thief which makes him useful!

But apart from that he has
1. Bonuses to dmg which make him a better damage dealer than no-kit fighter(both +dmg and those % chance to apply)
2. Thaco bonuses that make him hit enemies better than no-kit fighter
3. Skills that make him impossible to hit by non-critical hits late game(once I managed to stack so many of those -3ac be specific weapons that it was like -60 overall, I had a screen of that somewhere but can't find it).
4. He also has CS
5. His armor and short sword are better than most things fighters can dream of + he has nice helmet
6. He can wield waterr's edge that gives him 6APR
7. He gets levels(which means bonuses and later HLA) really fast

It's a shame that there are no bio-ware swashes in the game...

Hello, can anyone tell me where the possible locations for Staff of Rynn are, except for Trademeet Tomb? Also, I ctrl-Q ed the Trademeet guardian to see if he has it, and he wields it, but he doesn't drop it. Is that normal?

Teshal (undead lair on unsseeing eye territory) and Dracolich

Agreed. There are a few un(der)used NPCs available and there are certainly many examples of changing a Bioware NPC's kit (Valygar, Mazzy, Jaheira, to name a few).
-Since bards were nerfed, Haer'Dalis would be a good candidate to become an NPC swashbuckler. His shortsword is not over powered.
-Hexxat is a single class thief so would be another choice but her character doesn't really make sense as a swashbuckler from a RP perspective and has an annoying issue with daylight.

Here are some other crazy ideas for consideration
-Edwin as a necromancer, particularly if amulet of hades were opened up to non-necromancer parties and his amulet is nerfed to not give bonus spells. He has 10 WIS so couldn't use wish but would be unsilencable.
-Imoen as a riskbreaker (her stats are perfect, she loses spellcasting from Irenicus magic, Neera is available as an NPC sorcerer with custom item)

Hree are the NPCs who don't really fit into IA framework

We've actually had some ideas for Edwin and some QoL things for specialist mages, hopefully it will be added some time. It's not so hard to implement but we've been dancing around the druid stronghold quest for ages and I want to finally see it done in one form or another. I would also like to streamline the other improved strongholds to maybe wrap it into one cohesive story. There's only so much stuff one can come up with for all classes.

I'm not sure I like this as a core thing. Maybe as an optional component. Plus, I really do want to nerf Riskbreaker smile.gif

Aerie and Viconia could be adapted once a better look is taken at clerics. As for Wilson, damn, I even forgot that he was in the game.

Yes, the whole thing is so weird and buggy I don't even want to mess with her. If I were to do this I'd remove all of that day/light nonsense and come up with something else entirely.

The UAI in IA v6.4 now can use ANY item, including the NPC exclusive equipments and the exclusive equipments of the particular classes, such as Jan's improved armor, Boots of the Ranger Lord,Judgement Day and Golem Slayer, etc. This is too OP.

That's interesting, since I don't remember we did anything with that ability, certainly we didn't want to increase its power, good that you spotted it!

Yeah, there's probably something wrong with the restrictive flags. I'll check it out. In any case, I've removed most of the stuff that clutters the global scripts in the process in favour of specialised solutions. I don't really care about enforcing restrictions for the sake of doing so since there are longterm plans to remove UAI anyhow.

The UAI opcode overrides unusable flag(s), and also opcode 319, except NPC restriction (which stored in item_use.2da) and attribute(s) restrictions. IIRC.

That may be the fault caused the overwhelming issue mentioned by chaser.

So, if I may, what is point or the goal, to remove checks in script? Make it clean? IMHO, run them by a hidden creature may be a better workaround.

No? I thinks the most important is make it clear in mind: what do you want.
