Hi, Pekkae!

SPOILER!
Look in places that you suspect Werewolves may be found.

Allright!

SPOILER!

Another spot where there's Werewolves is temple ruins. On last run through I visited Temple Ruins the first time in Chapter 6 ... This time I'm taking mazzy along though. So I need ti visit earlier.
Sikret
Tell us about your party (in a separate thread).
leozoroaster
I wonder how to continue the Sibel questline in Chapter 6. (I think) I got all Sibel stuff and received a note and amulet in Chapter 3. Now I have cleared most fights in Chapter 6, but still haven't seen any Sibel encounter. From people's posts there should be a messenger in Chapter 6 who I didn't meet, is there any prerequisite, or can I get him via EEkeeper?
SparrowJacek
Have you found Howard's Gift already? Where did you ask him to place it, when you were in Sibel's village?
leozoroaster
I asked him to place it in a dungeon (didn't find it in Bodhi's coffin).
SparrowJacek
There are quite a few locations for the item, so my advise would be to explore more areas, at some point you'll definitely find it smile.gif But it can be as far as WK lvl 3, though the place is random.
leozoroaster
Thank you! I actually found it at WK lvl4.
leozoroaster
Sorry I'm stuck again. I have completed everything in SOA, except Jon, Demogorgon, vagrant quest and sibel quest. I wonder how to trigger the next step of sibel quest. So far I have defeated the greater amber golem, and Virtus told me he will come back when it's time.

I'm not sure if this is related to Reginald. I couldn't find the samara fruit either.

Next step will be in ToB.

This happens back in Sibel's village, in the early game. I can give you some spoilers on that if you want.
SparrowJacek
Critto, what about the fight against the Pool of Amber and its aftermath? Is it available only if you've helped Reginald in the sewers? My knowledge of Sibel quest implementation is rather limited and I don't know all the triggers for specific encounters.
bulian
Here are my notes on the SoA portion of Sibel quest order after spellhold. Likewise I'm not sure on all the dependencies of XP and time.

SPOILER!
Spellhold exit ambush (2x amber golems, generally Brynlaw)
(Optional) Reginald's ghost encounter
Recover Howard's gift and ambush
Meet Virtus in CC (3 days after howard's gift, Sibel/PC duo fight)
Defend the city event (shortly after virtus I)
Andrias fight (talk to merchant after govt ambush, located in sewers)

No, I don't think they are connected.

Thank you bulian! I skipped Reginald, but the main questline went smoothly until the defending gov part. After the Sibel/PC duo fight, I can't activate the next part so I used CLUA to create the messenger who sends me to gov. However, after that, I can't activate the Andrias fight either (didn't meet any merchant or leather golem).
bulian
From what I recall

SPOILER!
The merchant spawns immediatly after the city defense event if you're XP level is high enough. There might be a very slight delay (<5 seconds). Don't leave too quickly or use Ctrl+J to move around.
Since you're using the console you could try to spawn the merchant as well.

critto
Do you still need help with this, leozoroaster?

And is Neera's robe forgeable/obtainable if she is a sorceress?

Hmm, good question, I think it is. Quick look at Near Infinity shows that you only need proper items for Elowen's dialogue option to appear.

Thanks!

I think Neera's improved robe makes sense for a sorcerer as well but at the same time it makes her much more powerful. Personally I don't mind, I think it's a good development and Necro now has a little bit of competition.

There's one here, but I don't know if/what/how IA changes this:

https://baldursgate.fandom.com/wiki/Wild_Surge
SparrowJacek
Hey.
That table sent by pekkae was valid up till v7.0. Many changes were made making Wild Mages much better in terms of what they can roll. I don't have the table properly updated, but just know this:
- you'll only lose 10% gold instead of 80% on roll 17 or 95
- you can get Mental Agility on some rolls
- you can get some forms of Improved Haste
- you can summon powerful creatures, though sometimes they might turn against you smile.gif
- most stuff that lasts long (days/hours) has greatly reduced duration
critto
Ufortunately, I never got around to add an updated table to the readme. I'll try to include one in the next update, whenever it comes. Jacek outlined it well in broad strokes, though.

It's a little bit of a shame that some of the OP stuff is reserved for goodies only. There's the "tireless rage" which is quite good, but obviously it's no match for the "goodies" equipments.

Hexxat is massively downgraded from 6.5, not sure how she'll hold up. And since it's an evil party, you don't have the uber equipment from sibel even. usch.

You could take an evil sorceress; shouldn't RvE be available? Alternatively Cernd as a true neutral should fit an evil party as well. Or you could just go with an auramaster/avenger PC?

If you don't mind waiting, you could hold until Jacek releases the new version, it should have improvements on the cleric kit (for Viccy as well?).

And for the 2nd mage, consider just going with a custom made character (evil F/M wither dual or multiclass) - as existing versions are non-existant. Jan is a neutral, but if you have Hexxat you already have thieving covered.
critto
IA isn't really well suited for truly evil runs in terms of RP or in-game decisions. You can of course do it, but the majority of the added content is for good- or neutral-aligned parties.

Protagonist-wise the best choice is the druid, the new v7 quest would be available since pure class druids aren't truly evil, obviously (alignment-wise).

When it comes to the party, neutral- or evil-aligned NPCs are best bet. Korgan is a fine choice. Dorn is a bit underwhelming but should still be viable as a full-time warrior. Hexxat was nerfed a bit, true, but swashbuckler is still a powerful class if played right. However, her mechanics are so annoying that we abandoned any further attempts to rebalance her at some point during the v7 development.

When it comes to casters, Cernd is absolutely fine for evil party, and he's a decent healer because Auramasters are superb universal casters. If I am not mistaken, Anomen can switch alignment if he fails to resolve his personal quest honorably, but that is a subpar decision in terms of rewards. But you would still have a decent cleric.

When it comes to mages, Jan is better than Edwin, I'd say, as a wizard: more equipment choices, you can also make him a true Illusionist via IA Tweaks. But he doesn't have access to necromancy magic. Then there's also Neera, she's a wild mage now and pretty fun to play (we changed the class a lot in v7), or you can change her into a sorceress via the IA Tweaks component. She's of neutral alignment so should be a good fit for evil party. Also, I don't remember if Imoen bolts due to low alignment issues. If she's not, you can have her as a sorceress.

Of course, you can always have custom created characters as well, those wouldn't have any alignment issues. Or you could install the happy patch and play whomever, depending on your willingness to sacrifice the RP part in favor of power-gaming.

It will take some time before I can release my update, can't say how much, but definitely a few months. For now I'm not planning to create a custom kit for Viconia, but if you want to bend the rules of lore to improve your playstyle, we can turn Viconia into a priestess of Tempus (a very good choice, I'm playing with a custom made PoT right now) or a priestess of Talos.
lappen
thx for the replies.

i would give some ideas on that "problem"
for example we could try to put the montaron xzar quest into account and creat a new/old npc out of this. we would have an evil necro or a fighter/thief with a little plot around the zentarim or against the harpers.
Or find a way to recruit Tazok smile.gif that would be fun.

or push haer dalis a little bit to get the bard class going. he could fit into evil party smile.gif

easy to say from me as a player not a programer ;P
critto
Yeah, good suggestions but I wouldn't promise anything done in that direction any time soon. I'm on a bit of hiatus when it comes to modding. But if you want to use Haer'Dalis it should be easy enough to add a component to IA Tweaks to change his class into something more suitable. He would probably make a good Riskbreaker or Wizard Slayer (another hugely rebalanced kit in v7). I'd love to see the bard rebalanced but, once again, that's a lot of work.

What is main difference between hard and not hard Spellhold? I have always went there after finishing everything else I could. This might be part of reason why like half of my runs have ended there laugh.gif
critto
Hard spellhold spawns some extra enemies (golems and spiders) every once in a while based on an internal timer, independent of the regular content already present in the dungeon. Also, some of the normal battles inside might also feature tougher enemy groups (I don't remember from memory if and where specifically does this happen).

The difficulty is determined when you enter the dungeon proper (the room where you re-join Imoen after the soul-stealing cutscene), based on the protagonist's experience (the breakpoint is 2.35M). It is safe enough to sail away to Spellhold at 1.95-2M if you to avoid the harder version. But I think some players pushed the safe XP limit as far as 2.05-2.1M.
pekkae
From my experience, there's three main things in the harder spellhold;

1. "random" spawns that one gets
2. much more difficult golem ambush (I've managed to trigger this also with using elven ancient expertise on non-protagonist)
3. harder irenicus

and you don't any exp bonuses from those. still, it's only a few fights and if you are properly levelled up, it's not a problem.

However the thing about blowing through the exp-level then makes the following encounters a little unbalanced, especially if you are *a lot* (3 --> mexp) over the cap. Then again, to be a lot over the cap you've needed to clear some difficult fights or you've needed to play through the first parts with utmost attention to detail.

Anyone have noticed inconsistencies in spell disrupting? Did bit testing and found out that direction of target seems to affect. Vs Rayic Gethras I was casting chain lightning on myself when I was positioned under him and very rarely get disrupted his first few Dispel spells. Found out that placing myself to exactly 3 o clock (directly to right side), my chain lightnings were 100% successful on disrupt his casting. I think this bug is caused by EE, I don´t remember anything like that time before enchanted edition. Or it could be my distance to target if too far, not trigger spell disrupt. Hard to say without more testing.
SparrowJacek
Yes, that's a bug(?) in implementation. Some positions are uninterruptible, you can read more here https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/comme...Comment_1032904

Auramaster protagonist.
then some bioware npcs, havent chosen yet.

No journal, but I might record and make videos of interesting fights. Barely any interesting/challlenging so far, vanilla content is barely any challenge. Only few IA content done, new content in start dungeon was nice additions, Chaos did solo (find cheesy tactic)

Been following your auramaster journal route quite a bit. Right now I am playing solo as much early game/easy content, after cannot proceed, then I will start adding some useful party npcs.

My party:Valygar, Korgan, Nalia, Sibel, Jaheira.
Made all simple quests until 2kk exp, then collected party together high exp gain. Did prespellhold most content and sibel village first visit content. Auramaster have been proved to be really good, but I think due to overleveled party I barely had any challenge sad.gif. Well that is self caused problem, so my plan is to start over and do video journal (with commenting probably).

Question about this:Enable the hardest versions of XP-based encounters in Chapters 2&3: v1.03.
I found that it won´t trigger hardest versions of encounters in Druids Grove, under Troll Mound should be multiple Noble Trolls, but I had only 1 (low level party) with another run high level party I had 3. Should it spawn max amount with this tweak installed? If not then what does it do?
SparrowJacek
I didn't look at the implementation of that component, however I'm pretty sure that each change has to be implemented individually, so maybe bulian missed this one.

Is dispel/remove magic description correct? "However, despite the difference in levels, there is always at least 5% chance of success or failure."
What I remember in old times, it used to be totally useless vs high level targets (5 or more level higher than caster), 0% chance to success.
Been trying to remove magic Pirate Coordinator with no succes. Might be that I am just unlucky but been save scumming it a lot to test. I suspect that there descriptions is not correct.
pekkae
I think the chance drops down to 1%, in case you are 5+ levels lower.

Not 100% sure about this though.
SparrowJacek
QUOTE
Maximum is 99% chance to dispel.
There is no minimum threshold for succeeding the dispel check, at 5 levels or more below it will always fail.

This is how the opcode for dispel magic is described. There is no way to modify its behavior.

The component is not guaranteed to cover 100% of possible encounters. It was never an exhaustive effort, I only added whatever bulian happened to mention. I guess we can this one as well whenever a next release happens.

I think they've update the description for the opcode in IESDP. I distinctly remember it saying the 5% thing in the past. I guess it should be amended as well.
