Hi

I am playing improved anvil right now.I finished IA3 and there's
certeinly a diffrence in it.It's tougher smile.gif .

I'm playing with a sorcerer protagonist.I did the boo kidnapping
quest and right after I got in the grove the 3 trolls ran after
my sorcerer and ignored everyone else.

There's a bug where the trolls remain on near death and just won't fall
down.

After I got out from the irenicus dungeon I went to the graveyard
to look for items.On the getting out I was ambushed by suna sei
and friends and they killed me a lot.

I got lucky with a confusion scroll that got the somehow.
How did you defeat them in the beginning?Interupting them
from casting greater command and confusion?
The mages are a problem without breach and weak dispel.

I tried to go and get Keldorn but the party in the sewers is tough.

I got liliacor,rescued jan and viconia and little quests from
other mods.I think the next ones I'll try will be the circus and
trademeet.

Another question is with the oasis in TOB.Did it in IA3.There's
lots of gem golems and a few mages.I couldn't win it without serious
cheese.Kelsey mirror imaged himself,landed tons of comets
and all his spells,than I killed the image and did it about 10
times.

How do I win the battle?Is there a way to kill the golems faster?
I usually bring all the fighter on them with hammers,maces and it
still takes a lot of time to get rid of them.And than they summon more.

Some golem slayer kit or equipment or spells like reducing physical
resistence will be lovely addition to IA5.

The no stealing from shops came as a surprise.Usually in the beginning
I buffed a thief and took every usful equipment I could find.
Now it not even possible to charge the wands like that.

BTW,is there any progress with the Mansur NPC?

Edit:After a long fight and lots of reloads I defeated the founder
of trademeet.All of my party and summons to take his blows surrounded
him and it took lots of minutes and healing to take him down.

The tough thing about him was the magic resistence and he summond a lot
of skeleton warriors and I think he had physical resistence.

Is there a fast way of defeating him?

Edit2 21/4:

Finished thieves guild quest,was really easy.Tried the sewer party
again and got defeated again.My party is levels 10 so can't deal
yet with all the spells.The mages are tough.
I also did the murders in the bridge district and the ghost in the
grave yard.

Edit 24\4:Somehow my brother did hard disc cleaning and erased my saves
and BG2.So I'm reinstalling and restarting.This time to save time
in the beginning I'm not installing improved illych.

I started a new TOB game without IA.One character vs. Illesira and
she was ridiculously easy.When I did it with IA4.1 it reminded
more of a scene from a predetor movie with the addition of her 5
party members.

Edit 26/4:Been a bit busy.still got to install mod NPCs and IA
and start a new game.

This doesn't relate to IA. I have not even touched trolls' scrpts and I don't know which 3 trolls you are referring to. Have you possibly installed some other AI improving mod? It's strongly recommended that you do not.

This also has nothing to do with Improved Anvil. I guess you have installed other mods which you shouldn't have. If you want, you can PM me your WeiDu.log file and I will check it for you and will tell you which mods you need to uninstall.

You can go to meet Keldorn through the south of the area safely.

Ok,I started a new game with a F/M/T this time I started a bit differently.
I went all over athakla and picked every lock,took every item I could find
and kept or sold it and did very little unmodified quests.I did liliacor
and the thieves guild(which has huge number of locks to pick).

Anyway,my party is about in levels 11 and about 45k gold.

Where is the bag of holding in chapter 2?I read Sikert said there is
one but didn't find it and I'm getting very low in inventory space.

After very long fight and lots of reloads I deafeated the party in the sewers
with hatchetman and Gaius.

They are probably not for levels 10 or 11.

I had my F/M/T running around with boots of speed triggering the fight and
running away trying to split them and wear of their buffs.

The other party memeber hid in a corner and after lots of running
I buffed them with haste,bless,armor of faith and sent them trying
to catch them one at a time.

After lots of reloads it worked.Without the buffs I got the two clerics
easily.The other dwarf was easy too.The fighter took lot of chopping
and so did Targnor.

Finaly it was everyone on Gaius.I thought him being mage or sorcerer it
would be easy.

It wasn't.

He had 3 stoneskins,4 improved mantles,was better tank then my fighters.
He had lots of attacks per round and moved like he was under improved
haste.All of the party maybe had undroppable boots of speed.

Magic missles didn't hit him.He was immune to fire and acid
and even had 3 chain lighting in a spell trigger.
And he casted spells.

And during the reloads I counted,he has more than 100 hit points.
Maybe 150.

It's easy to watch any information about enemy by ShadowKeeper or NearInfinity.

I haven't played much lately.Did stuff in RL and somehow got Planescape:Torment
which also kicks ass.I went to Ribald's shop bought Vhalior's helm,scrolls of
protection from magic and went to the party in the in the promenade.

Than I found out it was nerfed and casts death spell.Not simulcrum.
Does it protect from critical hits?It doesn't say so in the description.

Via a quirk of the infinity engine, absolutely anything that goes in the head slot also protects against critical hits.

I finished playing Planescape:Torment for now so I'm back to improved anvil.
Currently I'm after few attemps at Torgal.He is tough.

My best attempt was after using summons and a hasted charater to waste
his storm than running to another room,there I got the gem golem but
couldn't do enough damage to kill him in melee.

Any ideas?

Edit:Didn't have a save from before just the quick save so I ended
seriously cheesing Torgal.I finished the slaver ship which was easy
after De'Arnise hold and the sewer party.

Edit2:Mencar Pebblecrusher and friends are also dead.Beaten on the first try.
Somehow I bottlenecked them with summons and my charecters that were held with
me getting them one at a time.

Edit3:Doing the unseeing eye quest.Got the rod and now fighting the undead
before the beholder dungeon.Thershal seems to directly go after my F/M/T
holding him with his melee attack and than killing him.He did it four times
in a row.Is he scripted to do this instead of randomly choosing a charater?

Dealt with the storm of vengence with haste and running to another area after
the *$%$# releases it.Torgal had SOV and now Thershal.Insted of running is
there another way of dealing with it.

BTW,teleport field with hasted characters is quite fun.

What level are you? If your fighters have trouble hitting consistently maybe you're going after Torgal a bit early.

In any case my advice would be to ignore the Gem Golem and focus on Torgal completely. Try to just get the Golem to attack a character with Mirror Image either through the spell or Ilbratha +1. It attacks really infrequently and goes through images pretty slowly.

Ok,I defeated Thershal,the zombie before the beholder lair and I think I
found a little bug here.
Keldorn approach to turn him hostile and after he will raise his defenses
he will use his dispel magic.Somehow he went to him invisble,Thershal
casted true sight,than there was the dialog,don't remember excatly what
I did but I was suprised when he didn't cast defensive spells
and storm of vengence.

He did cast one armor of faith though.

And naturally enough he was fire resistent and magic resistence.
My fighter(Keldorn,Minsc)are about 1000000 XP and it took lots of
time to take him out in melee.In the beginning he probably had potions
or regenerated or healed himself with spells as he kept moving back
from barely injured to uninjured.

After a death spell killed 5 skeleton warriors I just meleed him
and casted 5 lower resist and tried to find spells that will reduce
his health.Haven't tried Melf's arrow.Sikret,is he vulnurable to acid?

He is a zombie.Thought fire would get him.

I never experienced big troubles with Teshal comapred to ie Torgal or the Greater Yuanti. I've seen the same "problems" with Teshal, but I thought it was by design.

He's actually immune to everything except magic damage and weapons, iirc. So you must try it with either some Magic Missiles etc. (after lowering his MR) or with brute force.

I did the pirate fight in the docks in the in behind the secret door.
That was some tough fight.

There was the captain the mage and the normal pirates.In the first few
tries I tried to kill the captain first.He was with HLA like hardiness,GWW
and critical hit I think.

The problem was he wasn't going down very fast.He wasn't going down at all
and at that time the mage and pirates were doing damage.The mage casted
horrid wilting,and during one long fight comet and dragon's breath that
finished me so I changed tactics.

I summoned creatures,dispeled magic with Keldorn on the mage that had
only SI:divination and improved invisibility.It's easier to take down
than SI:Abjuration.Than breach on him and everyone took him down.

Than the pirates,one at a time and finaly the captain.He had like
everyone magic resistence and from some reason until I breached him
had immunity to physical damage.That was surprising.

After some time he fell down.I found some lovely treasue.Don't want to spoil.
Now I'm not sure about what to do next,trademeet,windspear hills or
the sphere.

Roy, I believe the reason the Pirate Captain is immune to physical damage is that he naturally has a resistance of 60%+ to slashing/piercing/blunt and this is taken to 100%+ by the extra 40% from Hardiness. So, while Hardiness is active he is immune to weapon damage.

Fortunately the enemies with natural physical resistances this high don't seem to have more than one Hardiness. At least, the ones I've fought so far don't smile.gif

I defeated the guarded compound.It's different than IA3.I tried to get down
to split them up,the usual thing I do aginst them. found downstairs
skeleton lords and gem and coin golem.So I didn't try that on the second
try.

They casted storm of vengence.I don't like that spell.I defeated them by sending
hasted party up stairs running to one of the rooms downstairs and
bottle necking the kensai and the cleric than running up to finish the other
three.

I rested than and went to the room with the elemental golem.Had only one
try aginst him yet.My F/M/T didn't have a weapon to hit him so I sent
him to loot the vault and room.And there wasn't anything there.
In IA3 there was the holy avenger scabard.

Is there a reason other than XP to go fight him?

At least in my game the golem carried the holy scabbard with him.

This is true. However, the captain's resistance to physical damage is decreased/lowered in v4.3.

I did the umar hills quest.Well,most of it except for the dragon that killed
me a lot and the shadow lord the has spell protections that I can't dispel
yet,uses spell triggres and has 2 skeleton lords.

They are tough.Tried a few times to kill the dragon.I got him down
to barely injured.He than renewed his spell protcetions.

I think he had improved haste and than he had lots of APR.He also killed
me few times with trigger of 3 finger of death.

My party is levels 12/11.

I wanted to play solufein mod so I summond him with CLUA when I got
to 500,000 XP.His MR helps.Unfortunately this added revenge spider
to the shade lord.That's not serious compared to the shadow lord
and other lackeys.

I would appreciate any dragon slaying ideas or shadelord.Or I can try some other quests to get some XP.

I even casted spells to get cowled wizards with unsantioned spell casting.
Than I got to last batch and the were improved with coin golem.

Edit:Finished Traemeet.The druids were really easy.Very very easy after
playing improved anvil quests.The spiders guarding belm were tough.
I'm didn't go yet to the troll mound.

The trademeet tomb was a lot easier than the 4.1 I think.It took me
two minutes as opposed to lots of reloads and lots of time.

one of the protection from everything.I attacked all the plannar hounds
and hoped his spell protections will run out while my party is still
intact.

I survived his comet in the end.The warden had also a new power.Magical
Laso that renders unconciouns and get the character to him.I tried to run
with boots of speed to wear down his spell defenses.

One thing that suddenly happens is that the bounty hunter with the F/M/C
suddenly died witout any explanation in the text box.

Afaik the thralls fighting the warden is a scripted sequence that was present in the original game (think irenicus murdering the guards in spell hold), so it is short by design.

As for the f/m/c dying spontaneously, i'm at a loss, i've fought the f/m/c several times and that's never happened.

If you could give any more details, that would be great.

I have no idea.One moment I had a summon distracting him and the summon
was injured by the fire shield.I think he was uninjured and than he died.

I was about that level and I can tell you what worked for me. I cast the usual buffs before entering the shade lord screen, I had my sorceror with stoneskins and Fireshield run up to the Shadelord and attack one of the Skeleton Lord's to get the two of them and the Shade Lord tied up attacking her while she cast more Imprv Haste, etc. Meanwhile my other party members all ganged up on Shadow Patrick and took him down fairly quickly. Next they destroyed the Shadow Altar and then the Skeleton Lords. Then came the long part of the battle. I couldn't cast RRoR yet so I had to run in circles until the Shade Lord's protections started to wear off. After the third time getting to this point and then killed by 3x Horrid Wilting or 3x Chain Lightning I had to turn the difficulty down to Easy so they did way less damage. dry.gif

The Shadow Dragon was a pain too since he cast Heal on himself twice and Cure Critical Wounds once. Gain some more levels and come back to them both.

The following spells protect you from Emotion:

1- Globe of Invulnerability (not available to Jaheira though)

2- SI:Enchantment (as above)

3- Chaotic Commands (this one is available to Jaheira)

Number 2 and number 3 will also protect you against "Greater Command".

If we consider innate abilities too, then Berserker's "Enrage" and "Barbarian Rage" will also do the trick.

The "Magic Shielding" potions will also indirectly protect you as they will make your saving throws automatically made.

There are also two of the new items which grant immunity to "Unconsciousness".

Ok, great. Thanks for the quick reply. Chaotic Commands keeps getting more and more useful. I hadn't been putting CC on her since she's holding the Shield of Harmony and thought that'd be good enough. XD

I try to keep enough Chaotic Commands on hand to buff my entire 6 man party, AND a couple of spares for when it gets dispelled. Spell Immunity: Abjuration is handy for preventing that dispelling party, for my mages at least.

I like to use Wondrous Recall for that matter. Buff two or three (or four biggrin.gif), get some CC back, buff some more. Or you could get two Mass Cure spells back, to heal the entire party. Think of it instead of a Heal which is hard to use (when it's actually worth it, that is) given the damage dealt by IA's enemies. Later on Greater Restoration does that job better anyway.

What Sikret said + the Greenstone Amulet is the only other item which will protect from G.Command, Emotion, unconsciousness (in general).

Unconsciousness (side effect of some spells/abilities of enemies) can be prevented only by Ch. Commands the G.Amulet and some of the items of IA Sikret mentioned.

Tried to went to watchers keep.Anyway,the spider queen is tough and summons
ton of spiders.So I decided instead to go to windspear hills.Now Kelsey
is level 14 and has RRoR.Now I can take down mages defenses.

The modified golem on level 2,2 gem and one coin were a surprise but
I passed them.I bottle necked them at the door and concentrated
on one at a time.There should be a spell add big wall with
narrow door as a HLA smile.gif .

I have a question about the spider queen,my party is about levels 12/13,
is that another battle that should be kept for later or there's
some other tactic aginst it?

all my fighters attacking him,hasted and stuff and Kelsey breaching.
Now Samia's party and I finished Windspear.

I have a question about the randomizatin program.I finished firekragg and
Torgal and the planar prison,now shouldn't they have robe of venca and
other items?

What items excatly am I looking for except the robe?

The mage in Samia's party had the Robe for me but I don't know how many different people it could spawn on.

You should do the illithid dungeon in the sewers next. There are two pretty good fights there.

I defeated the elemental golem im the guarded compound and improved
carsomyr.I also found on him the staff of rynn.Is he supposed
to have it or is it the randomization program?

I than defeated Thaxxll'ssillya to.And than went to fight the shade lord.
I killed shadow patrick,shadow altar,shadows and skeleton lords.He killed
everyone except the F/M/T and Keldorn.He was injured and than killed
my F/M/T with horrid wilting.I'm going to look for items to give him magic
resistence.

The triple horrid wilting also saved the city gates lich.

Edit:It was irritating so I killed him in easy where he did a lot less
damage.Maybe protection from energy on eveyone would help.

Got the dawn ring after running into Borianll,rune assasin and amber
golem.Was nice fight with the normal ending of killing every opponent
and everybody ganging on the golem to finish it.

I found the robe on the mage in twisted rune, Layenne, I think her name is (or something close to that).

OK,I finished the planar sphere quest,anyway my protagonist is a F/M/T
so will I see the new stronghold content?
I have the planar sphere mod installed also so I'll see if it's
compatible.How does the new content start?
There's a new person in the sphere or what?

There were lots of golems there.Improved haste and blunt damage work
very well.Lavok and the two mages there were easy,I guess I'm getting
used to them.And melee gets them even with their defenses as sometimes
they only have stoneskin and mirror image.

I found the hilt of the truth.

I have save before doing the sphere and after Lavok died just in case.

I couldn't get the planar sphere as a stronghold when I had the Planar Sphere Mod installed. But my PC was a R/C and I was using the multiple strongholds mod. Rather irritating.

I noticed in one of the threads that Sikret says you MUST be a mage or ranger (but not necessarily single class) to see his expansion of the respective strongholds. I was hoping that the multiple stronghold mod would work too. smile.gif

There appears to be a check on the player's class in the expanded stronghold quests. You can get the new quests by the fairly drastic measure of SKing your current class to ranger or mage, but it will probably screw up your game unless you play the quests then return to a pre-SK save.

Yep, that is the good ending. As long as you don't kill him and he leaves as your friend you did the "good" thing. Oh and the mods are compatible. Or were it at least for me.

Couldn't find which container it was till this my third run but finally got it, its the one on the side of lavoks platform it doesn't fill instantly you seem to have to wait several days after marvella first tells you about it.

Finished the fighter stronghold.Nice fight at the end.

I have 2 questions.In the new content there is a new quest for the docks
about is it safe to go to cromwell and haven't found it.

I am a the second post Firkragg quests and looking for the viper queen.
I haven't found it and those snakes just keep spawning and not one
of them gives any XP.And I killed tons of snakes.

Oh, I knew about the expanded stronghold content, but I was talking about the regular mage stronghold stuff. I didn't even get a chance for that!

I found the queen,I read Arakin's post and searched again.I killed tons
of snakes there,there wasn't any floor there,just dead snakes.

Anyway,it would be lovely if there were journal entries and maybe a way
for a different solutions,like if there's lot of snakes and assasins to
maybe send the snakes aginst the assasins or something.

Edit:I defeated the spider queen in watcher's keep level 1.More items
and levels later she was a lot weaker.

I finished the first two levels of watcher's keep.The chromatic demon had
friends.Perheps I could kill them and wait for him to summon more
but they did lots of damage.

From some reason I found on him tugian bow,flail head poison,blade of the truth,
ixil's spike and the circuit of nethril.I concentrated everyone on him
and when he died his friends went away.

I have a question about demon hearts.The truth swords takes one to forge,
improved Valygar katana takes two.I have two hearts from the outside
of the planar sphere.Are there any more somewhere?

Yes I remember finding a demon heart on at least one improved demon later in the mod (one you pretty much have to kill - so don't worry about missing it).

Otherwise there are two hearts to be found in WK level 3 wink.gif. These should work as well.
