Also was the shadow dragon supposed to have any randomised items? The first attempt at taking him out failed miserably so I decided to CTRL+Y him just to see what he had before reloading. I thought he had something that looked like the blade of roses, but when I did kill him (properly) it wasn't there (just scales, teeth, gems and scrolls). I reloaded an older save and CTRL+Yed him again to check and there was nothing there again.
I don't know if he got some randomised item normally but I can affirm that he had the Blade of Roses in my game. Seems odd. Maybe. If I've understood everything correctly the randomized items are set when you begin the game... so he should have the item again.

Yes, you understood it correctly. However, when a player cheats (Ctrl-Y) as stu did, then it's very probable that things will be messed up with the randomizer program completely and a long term bug may be created in the game. I keep warning people about cheating and people seem to keep not taking it seriously. If you cheat, you are on your own. Shall I repeat this again? I don't like to see any more bug reports from players who use ANY kind of cheat in the game. Thanks in advance.

Stu: Since randomized items are set at the beginning of the game, it is obvious that an earlier savegame (of the same game) will not change anything. (Even if you have reloaded the savegame of a previous game, it's still possible that the item is located somewhere else in that game too.)

Other people have commented in the past that this is one of the hardest fights in SOA. How much xp does your party have? Is it possible you just tried it too early?
Way too little and absolutely! I think I was around lvl10-12 but I was determined! (afterall I did manage, albeit it poorly, the fight with Torgal at lvl 8-10)

When I first started playing IA I used CTRL-Y a couple of times to see what enemies were carrying, then went back to an earlier save. If I recall correctly however, the enemies dropped additional items when I defeated them normally, items which didn't appear when I used CTRL-Y. I don't know if this is a deliberate anti-cheat feature or a by-product of the randomization program (the bug Sikret refers to).
My game wasn't screwed up by CTRL-Y as long as I went back to an earlier save before I'd used it. But obviously the use of CTRL-Y, either to defeat enemies or just to see what they are carrying, is little use if you are going to miss out on some major goodies (and of course it is cheating).

Here's another one: Limak says "puppils" instead of "pupils" in his second dialogue box.
Off-topic: Is English your first language, Sikret or are you just pretty busy when you write dialogue? (I'm just curious. You use 'Cheers' so I'd guess you're English. Your grammar is fine so you're probably just a bad speller like the rest of us.

Mhm... I'm wondering about something I just ran into: Lord Roenall. Is it wanted that he isn't affected by Breach, so you have to wait for his Hardiness to wear off or is this a bug (maybe of my game only)?
I'm trying to solo the game at the moment and it's actually quite hard with only one character with such a "low" level

I don't know if this IA bug or not, but it seems I don't get XP when I kill low hit dice mob with Death Spell. This occurred in WK 2nd lvl where I killed some lesser Air elementals and Posion Mists.
Also I managed down Chromatic Dragon with Emotion. Despite of he was knocked out, he continued to use his ablities. He summoned mobs, changed his form (graphic didn't changed, just he became immune to fire while he was in ice form when he lied down) etc.

I think I found a cheat with Book of Infinite Spells. I started to turn its pages, in hope to get some really useful spell instead of Fireball. And somtimes 2 books popped in my inventory instead of one. Some books were finished with lvl 1 Burning Hands, and I was not able to turn pages in them, but I found a lvl 6 Spell Deflection Spell, which seems useful, and in the end I have 6 copies of the book with this spell. Also I saw True Seeing also on pages, but well I have Keldorn in my party.
Ah, and I have appr. 4 Burning Hands book now beside SD ones. So basically I have 10 books from that 1 original.

Has nothing to do with IA. I even doubt that such a bug exists in the vanilla game; perhaps one of your other mods is responsible for it.

Whichever character is wearing Improved RIng of Gaxx, he is slowed down in movement. He is not walking with slow speed, just his move is broken many times, so he moves only very short distance between breaks. Also when I give move command to far point, he forgets this command at about halfway. I have tried the ring on different characters.

We tested the ring and didn't find any such problem, shadan! So, two possibilities occur to me about the problem you have experienced:
1- I remember that similar moving problems
sometimes appeared in the vanilla game for a while during the game. So, the first probability is that it's a vanilla game problem in your game. But if so, I guess it shouldn't be continuous.
2- The second probability is that you have a mod which causes this problem (most likely a tweakpack). If you wish you can PM me the content of your WeiDu.log file and I will have a look at it.

Couple of minor issues:
1. None of the internal stairs to the roof of De'Arnisse Keep work. The only way up is from the courtyard (and obviously this can only get you to half of the roof). Is this intentional?
2. When the statues come alive on the first level of WK, an AI controlled party will start attackingthem before they get red circles under them. If you do this, the statues will not attack you - they still turn red, but will just sit there and take a beating.

Yes, sealing the internal stairs is intentional, though I can find a workaround to make the stairs available again after certain events are done and finished if you think that access to the roof from inside the keep is a must. Do you think so? I, for one, never go to the roof at all.

This is not related to Improved Anvil. It's a vanilla game issue. I will see to it. Thanks for the report, Meths!

It's probably needless to add that when I wrote "It's a vanilla game issue", I presumed that you have not installed any other mod which might have caused the problem. It's not an IA issue for sure, but when I find the time, I will examine the case to see if it's a bug of the vanilla game or not (if it is, I will fix it).

Oct 14 2007, 01:28 PM
Well, I remembered why I had sealed the internal stairs. I think it's best to leave them sealed as they are now. Under certain circumstances the open stairs can be exploited. As I said, it's theoretically possible to check every event and open the stairs again when ALL those events are done and finished; but to be honest, it's too much work for little gain. The number of events which need to be completed before re-opening the stairs safely are many and there is really nothing of interest at the roof. I prefer to spare my time and energy to add more new features to the mod and I guess you agree with me.

I do go to the roof - but only for completeness sake. I just found it slightly strange that I could still get to the roof, but 2 of the doors were shut. As you also say though - it's not worth spending any time on.

Well I wasn't sure what else to, so I'll try to describe the problem I'm having. I decided to take out my copy of BG2 and ToB and start playing again for fun. I figured that even though it's been a few years since I last played through them, that I would jazz the experience up a bit with some mods. So I poked around the web and found a few I liked the look of. Currently, I have some Ease-of-Use parts, Dungeon-Be-Gone, and Easy-Core-Rules installed. Then, I found Improved Anvil. The mods I already have are great in themselves, but IA is exactly what I was looking for. So I uninstalled everything and followed the order specified in the IA installation document, SoA -> ToB -> ToB official patch -> Baldurdash 1.12 fixpack -> IA mod. (Only non-recommended mod I installed from Ease of Use was the one getting rid of traps and locks)
So everything was looking great, and I started a new game again. Dungeon Be Gone kicks in and I get through Irenicas' area nice and fast. Got through the scene at the end where Irenicas kills everyone then leaves with the wizards and then I'm in control again. So far so good. So I go sell some stuff at the Adventurer's Mart and notice that now, instead of my game being nice and smooth (I don't have 3d rendering on btw, and I defragged and then restarted my computer earlier today), I notice a little twitch in the fps. So I'm like, "whatever, nothing serious." So I go through the whole thing of getting Aerie and all that stuff, and then I go to that scroll seller at the North part of the Promenade. I sell and buy some stuff, and now the twitch is really serious. Every second or so, the whole game freezes for half a second, then unfreezes. So if I have my party move somewhere, it's very jerky and takes a long time. When I move the cursor, it also displays the same issue, as well as NPCs and things like water/torches. The weird thing is that when I pause the game, I can move the cursor freely and smoothly again.
So anyway, I think the problem is something with IA and it conflicting with some other mod, since the problems didn't start with until IA was installed. Talking with other NPCs doesn't seem to cause any issues, nor does zoning into differing areas or going into combat. It seems to be specifically related to merchants. I'm really not all that good with computers or anything, so if it's *not* an IA issue, then any direction would be appreciated.

Well, if the problem occurs specifically when you talk to merchants, it should be a very rare and odd local problem in your game. What I can recommend is to do a clean installation of the game and then install everything as instructed in IA's document. You mentioned that you uninstalled your other mods (rather than doing a clean installation of the whole game). Sometimes uninstalling a mod is not enough to clear all of its leftovers and traces.

If not, I have no other idea than trying it on a different configuration (e.g., different computer), if/when it's possible for you. (Of course, only if you're sure that your game folder, especially Override, is completely erased before you make a new game installation on your current system. The uninstaller does not normally remove custom files.)

I *think* I have a bug concerning IA, maybe not, it *might* be because of another mod. Anyways, I have a question, and if it's a yes, than it is a bug/exploit concerning IA, if no, than it's from another mod. My question is, when you try to kill Renal Bloodscalp, Arkanis Gath DOESN'T show up. If this is a yes, than if you kill him, and than you try to join the Shadow Thieves, everyone is hostile, including Aran, which leads to serious problems. If no, he does show up, than I've got to figure out what I mod makes it do that.

I tried multiple times, going back and fourth 'twixt Windspear Hills and the Graveyard, but she never was there. So, anyone got a suggestion how to keep the main quest going? This MIGHT be an Anvil bug.
Anyways, I started the game over recently because I reinstalled, and after reinstalling all my mods, (IA last), I killed the duerger leader and he dropped Mail of the Dead, (I think it's called that), and after getting out of the dungeon, I go to the copper cornet and one of the guards you kill drops it also.
