Thanks! Anyone else stuck, it has nothing to do with the gems lol. Just be sure to search *everywhere*

Just killed the chromatic demon. Was a real hard nut to crack till I loaded up imoen with pfmw to distract his minions while my f/m lured him to a room where all my summons and rest of the party was waiting...
Sikret
Did you update the mod to v4.2? (Has nothing to do with the Chromatic Demon and would have no effect on that battle though; no new changes are applied to that area in v4.2 compared to v4.1, but do update the mod in your game with every new release.)

Just uninstall the current version, delete the folder "ImprovedAnvil", unzip the new version into your main BG2 folder (if asked whether you want to replace anything say 'yes'), then install it again. You can continue the game from your current saved game. This is the general guideline for updating the mod with every new release (unless it is mentioned otherwise).

Have already done so. Sikret, I'm looking through the tactical challenges walkthrough, and I've noticed that I didnt encounter anything new at cromwell. Is there a certain trigger I missed? I've completed the last malvena quest (good path) and kept the dude alive.

Also, I'm beginning to think a blade is much more viable then earlier suggested, mainly because of the sheer number of PFMW scrolls. And Imoen (SK'ed to blade) has turned the tide of many battles either by being completely untouchable (PFMW + SI:Abjuration + spell shield etc) or by spamming time trap before fights and clearing out the fighters. She single handedly killed the beholder, vampire and fighter in the twisted rune, as well as lord roenall.

You need to forge "Memory of the Apprenti".

Mongerman
Oh well...perhaps on my next run then. I've done all there is to do in SOA with no sign of the robe of vecna.

Also, what exactly is guarding the house of the tailsman? just to be sure, its the room where you have to solve a puzzle box. No enemies in there for me so far...

Compared to the F/M ? Heh, wait until the really tough battles of ToB where Timetraps will be almost useless and the Blade will have serious problems with his bad THACO and you can tell me wink.gif .

Generally? Yes the Blade is a very useful character in IA (as earlier suggested wink.gif ).

Have you completed W.Keep ? The Mind-Flayers' lair in the sewers (in Athkatla)?

Mongerman
Hehe yup maybe I'm speaking too early. Ah yes I've forgotten all about watcher's keep! I've already done the 1st 2 lvls though.

Hwever, I'm already halfway through saving the elven city. Will leaving it in the clutches of Jon while I pursue the robe of vecna have any ill effect?

Anf finally, assuming i dont get what I want from the creature, will reloading help, or are all variables already set at jon's dungeon?

I left Suldanessar once and couldn't get back in, but I think that I finally figured out the code to warp back in using CLUA.

It's a Noble Rakshasa standing just near the entrance of the house of the talsiman.

He is not asking about Suldanessar; he is asking about the creature who may have the robe of vecna. Don't hurry, Mongerman! You will find the robe. Go on searching the WK. Nonetheless, if you want to be sure that all variables are set correctly before you leave Jon's dungoen, I will send you a PM and will tell you how to check it.

I'm affected by chronic restarting syndrome, upon realizing that

1. I've used up all my scolls of memory boosting for nalia's ring and the bard armor.

2. I'm totally broke, due to forging too many +2 rings, clocks etc.

Hence, I going to restart my game. Nalia will be a swashie this time, using holy avenger during timestops as a mage killer. Aerie will be SKed to a sorc. Purely defensive and disabling spells at lower lvls, and sorc for more spells without having to forge any items. Imoen as a blade, minsc as berserker, and multi created f/m and r/c.

I've also decided to up the difficulty, seeing as how, based on my experience, this will be a much stronger party. All characters are capable of tanking (minsc and nalia with low ac, others with defensive spells). 5 Characters capable of kicking butt, and aerie as support. IME, lower level offensive spells (<7) are totally crap in IA in the improved battles.

I had warned you against this possibility a few days ago in this very thread if you remember.

Mongerman
Lol indeed. I'm really going to watch my fianances in my new game, and sell every bit of equipment i pick up. Even plain ole leather armors are going to the merchants!
