From your responses I think this mod will do just fine for me ^^. Sorry if I sounded a bit pushy with suggestions before even starting to play it. I mostly planned to do some questioning on the content in general before playing as BG2 is a rather long and challenging game.

Ah, three more things: Does the mod cover some personal quests for Rjali already or will those come in the future? Are the fights(in the quest/s challenging? Is there some BG2 ToB content already or is it only SoA?

Thanks for your time, I will answer/suggest more stuff once I actually play through most/all of this mod first.

Most of your questions will be answered by a careful reading of the readme. Quickly: Rjali has projects, not so much quests; there is very little combat added by the mod; and the mod has content in SoA and ToB.

Enjoy!

P.S. - This mod only works on BG2EE.

Dear Mr. nullset dry.gif ,

I'd like to take the chance to poke a little bit und ask about the upcoming version, just out of curiosity, if I may.

QUOTE(nullset @ Jul 6 2016, 03:45 PM) *
TOB. The keep is accessible. In fact, quite a lot of plot takes place there. Talk with Horace. In ToB, he can take you nearly anyplace on the SoA map. Ladies parked in SoA are available in ToB.

Well, I am so glad that the keep is gonna stay, like what you've done with the place! Keep it up, please!

If you do not mind to much: Yes, I've read that a great many mod-girls aren't parkable. From my understanding you are not giving this feature, because the structure of the romance-mods would make it very complicated. I am sure it is! On the other hand I am 100 percent certain everybody loves it beeing able to park a romance therefore having so much more options during the game. At least me and my three buddies, which play the game simultaneously, do love this idea of yours. So here is my humble wish, we have been thinking about. Would it be possible to make the other girls parkable at the end of their lovetalks in SOA? I guess you know the feeling quite well: You had the last lovetalk with your woman and then - nothing. Talking ceases and sets to null ( biggrin.gif ). So the girl is still there, but the warm and cozy feeling leaves. Here is the solution: At this point you could make the girl parkable. It shouldn't be mixing up the storyline or structure of the mod or anything, because - as far as I know - the romance-mods consist of two different parts - SOA and TOB -, do they not? For example, a friend of mine is going with amber, and she has only SOA content. blink.gif So he wants to leave her behind after SOA. But do tell: Could you break up with a loved one? Heart of stone? blush.gif

And we read about the PIDs for parked girls, which made us quite excited - if you allow us a glimse into the future: How is that coming?

Thank you so much for your considerations - the four of us love your mod!

Northern sky (and buddies)

nullset
You're right. Parking a romance mod NPC *is* complicated. The "end of lovetalks" is not always easy to separate from the plot. Many do indeed have ToB content. And most have flirts to extend the "warm and cozy feeling". I did make Branwen and Nalia parkable specifically because they each have little or no ToB content. I am not really trying to take over the world here. So, I have no plans to extend the parking beyond where it is right now. Later? Who knows? I really want to move on to the BGEE prequel for the moment.

As to "heart of stone", the mods themselves have opportunities for dropping their NPCs out of the party: some to be picked up later; some just kicked out. My mod makes multiple romance possible; it does not alter a romance mod's options for the PC's handling of them. If you romance them, they will be welcomed into the fold. If not, they are just another party member until you kick them out.

I'm afraid I also backed down on the extension of PIDs for parked girls. What you have in v6 is what there is.

V7 has some new dialogue content and a few more back references to Sword Coast days. I am on what I hope is my last test run through. It should be out in less than a month. When released, v7 will be it (except for bug fixes) for quite some time because the next months (year?) will be spent on developing the BGEE prequel: the Jini Romance mod. Being a team of one, I cannot be in two places at the same time.

Keep your eye on the first post in this thread for notification of release of v7.0.

Hi nullset, I can't say how dissapointed we were reading your last lines. sad.gif But please please don't get me wrong - we love your mod and are very grateful for all the effort and energy you gave for it, asking nothing in return! It is just that we had such high hopes for many things still to come, after reading in your forum that is. Especially the idea of more PIDs your were talking about and more banters in the keep made us quite excited. The four of us love the keep and what you've done with it. I myself was hoping for a double-massage made by Rjali and one of the girls. dry.gif No, getting serious: I apologize for pushing and asking to much of you. I can't even begin to understand how many hours you worked. You let us - for free - share your mod, for what we are truly grateful, Sir!

Got to go, Northern Sky
nullset
Asking for more content was OK. I liked the suggestions and might at some future time revisit the issue. I am just getting excited about doing new things in BGEE: putting some legs under the scenario of the Rjali mod, as it were. I am also intrigued by the technical challenges involved. I hope you will enjoy the Jini mod when I get it out the door; it will add a full (if oddball) romance to BGEE which that game is (as far as I know) sadly missing. Luckily, the Rjali mod pointed the way to do this without breaking the BG story line. Stay tuned! smoke3.gif
Seewead
Uh, made me so sad to read your lines a few minutes ago: You are not going to enhance the rjali romance any further... I was expecting so much more content with the keep and the "parked" girls. Keen on and excited is what I was. And to be perfectly honest I was hoping for even more in the future. bigcry.gif

Oops, sorry for beeing so direct and openhearted. Please don't get mad at me - I am just a dissapointed fan. sad.gif Only a few days ago I talked two old friends into reviving the game again and try out your mod. blink.gif

Stop! Dear nullset, I have to admit: I am beeing totally selfish and ungrateful. Please forgive my little crisis :-). You gave us so much already with the mod as it is. The world wouldn't be the same without it dry.gif . Thank you very much!

I mean it, tons, Seewead

nullset
I might get back to Rjali in the future. Probably will. I just want to work on Jini for now. Feeling a little stale on Rjali and need a change of scene. Well, as soon as I have Rjali v7.0 out the door.
Seewead
I can imagine - you must have worked very hard and for a very long time on this mod! thumb.gif
nullset
A couple of years.
Seewead
Wishing you a good morning and bringing new questions, if I may dry.gif :

1.
Beeing no modder myself, but curiosly browsing through your files, I found your folder 2DA/MAXSPELLS. I gives me the impression that you maybe changed the rules about the maximum spells per level for all the different types of spellcasters. If so - does that make some other tweak-mod-options superfluous?

2.
By the way: From whom comes the voice in your mod? Found no hint in your readme. Like her a lot.

3.
If one would want to exchange one or two of the portraits you added (please don't get mad at me, it is just that I am not that excited about the old-style PST-pics, because I actually never played PST): Do I put an other pic with the same name in the override-folder or do I simply exchange the pics in your portraits-folder before install? Or do I go via the ee-keeper?

4.
After finding your SPELLS-folder it seems to me that you gave Rjali some new spells, not that I would be able to understand them. Could that be the case? In that case here is my question: If I use one of the mods that add or rearrange spells in bg2 - could that do any harm? Because normally I would install such a mod (like any tweak-mod) AFTER all the npc-mods...

Thanks a lot for your support, I am already so excited. Will have spare time in early august to try out your new version 6.2 (or 7.x)!!! tongue.gif

nullset
Hi Seewead,

1 - As part of the Equip option, I do indeed change the maxspells for all classes to maximum for all levels. Part of my super-buffing effort.

2 - Don't remember, if you are refering to Rjali. Annah and Grace get some voicing from PST.

3 - Install Rjali first. Then, put your portraits into the override folder. If I were doing it, I would make a mini-mod to do it with WeiDU. It's pretty easy: get the Weidu infrastructure right and copy your portraits folder into override. Et voila!

4 - I shouldn't think it would cause problems. Spells aren't handled like audio and avatars, with fixed slots. Those spells are not character spells, but are used as the easiest way to change a name and portrait. I use them to set up my invisible voices that assume the character of party members. This saves a whole lot of dialog triggers to let different NPCs in the party speak the same lines, at the expense of some out of character remarks. I was young and stupid when I did it, but it *was* a neat trick.

Please wait for 7.0! It fixes a real bug in parked NPCs not being transitioned to ToB properly. I am (I hope) on my last test run through, so it should be released in the next week or two.
Seewead
Thanks for your quick response!

And I will wait for 7.x! biggrin.gif

v7.0 is up. Enjoy!

Hi there, nullset, I copied this over from the other thread, if you will allow this:

QUOTE(nullset @ Mar 9 2017, 09:56 PM) *
Seewead, the whole EET thing is gonna be set back again. While I will be releasing Jini in a few days, I find that I want to make serious additions to Rjali and issue a v8.0. Jini has a new character: Fay, who is a Will-O-The-Wisp who will tag along (sort of a familiar) with the PC's party without actually joining. She also has a sort-of-romance with the PC. I want to carry her on in BG2EE via the Rjali mod. There are also adjustments to be made in Rjali due to developments in the Jini mod which, after all, is the prequel to Rjali. I have no estimates yet on how long that will take. When your muse is pounding you on the head, you can but go where she leads.

Well, that's great news, man! I love the idea of getting still more content in my favourite mod (of all times). Who would have thougt it? rolleyes.gif

I can't get enough, really. laugh.gif

Bee seeing you, Seewead

nullset
Thanx, Seewead. It is moving along, but new content and new techniques (new to moi) take time. Maybe a couple of months.
nullset
I just released Rjali v8.0. Moving on to Jini v1.1 for which I have some minor changes. Then, I'm taking a vacation and trying out the new PSTEE.
Seewead
Dear Nullset, as often you surprise us with a shiny new toy. wub.gif Can't wait to try it out!

I confirmed the problem and got onto Baronius at Black Wyrm. The problem is now fixed. You will need to get out of your browser and come back in to reset whatever needs resetting. When I did this, the download worked just fine. Thanx a bunch for reporting the problem!

Stopping by to try out your work. Read through the thread and thought I'd like to offer a suggestion regarding romance mods in general:

Gifts - Add a selection of misc items throughout the various vendors. Flowers, candy, jewelry, Butterknife of Balduran, clothing, shoes, etc... As the romance with each NPC develops, PC eventually have a dialog that gives you a hint of the perfect gift for that NPC which leads to an exclusive lovetalk. Not sure how much work an extra love talk involves. Makes the User section of the journal an asset to track where you found the gifts.

If inventory management is an issue, add a scenery container "Gift Box" to the Parking Lot domicile where the romance NPCs reside.

Expandable item upgrades/creation - Add a dialog to Maheer the Horn Merchant, Cromwell, Cespenar, Jerlia the Ore Merchant, Sir Sarles, any other likely NPC who might craft something beautiful. Dialog could be like regular item upgrade from Cromwell where they root through your pack for miscellaneous items and gems and offering a finished product. The NPC may not even know that the Collar Bell from Barad Ding's quest decorated with six Lynx Eye Gems is perfect for that special someone. But the PC does. By romancing her.

Add a set of tools, scattered throughout the merchant shops, that combine to form an Artisan's Tool Set. Usable in the domicile once per day to silently check the PC inventory and present a list of things to make. Take a page from the Golem Manual and hide recipes around the world to find. Get ambitious and copy the Machine of Lum the Mad style experimental dialog tree for making things. *Phew*

Here's me hoping you find some value and perhaps inspiration in my words, may your creative juices ever flow. Thanks for sharing your work.

Thanx for stopping by. I have seen such in other mods and will consider your suggestion seriously. I am currently on vacation playing through my new PSTEE (having created my very own book of cheats). Also, doing some testing for aquadrizzt for the PowerOfBelief PSTEE mod. Can't say when I will get around to it, but I will not forget it.

I am sorry, iamlenb. I have thought about this seriously, but your suggestions do not fit my conception of the mod nor is it a direction in which I want to go. I am not out to create a world with normal, everyday attributes, but to provide a lynchpin and umbrella for multiple romance, which I think I have accomplished. Barring a serious lightning bolt from my muse, I will be sticking with bug fixes, and minor stuff like all those spelling and grammar errors still floating around in the dialogue. Thank you for your suggestions.

How about cooking some taco for Rjali then and offering it as a gift?

Maybe some system of recipes that can be found in various places through the game. Find the recipes, cook tacos, offer them to Rjali...profit? wub.gif

Nothing seems to fit more as a gift in the story than a good taco. smile.gif

Is there a chance to make Rjali mod for original BG2? I've played countless time in BG2 with mods and I did't have any bugs or CTD. With BG2 EE I can't play because of CTD (after some time when romance music starts playing for Jaheira/viconia/aerie game crashes). I've tried couple times to reinstall game and/or most of mods and it's still the same. Another problem is after reinstalling game and Rjali mod in game Rjali has valid name - dialog sentence, for example: I'm glad to hear that, <Charname> ...

I'm sorry, imp. I use NPCs and features in BG2EE that just do not exist in the original BG2. The only mod I have produced that works in both BG2 and BG2EE is Eternal Imoen; it is a relatively minor mod and, even there, special care was needed not to use the BG2EE features. I'm not at all sure I could reproduce all Rjali's goodies in BG2. In any case, I am not up for such a major rewrite. Hell, I am even reluctant to make the necessary conversions for Rjali to run in EET! For $20, you can get BG2EE from Beamdog, and their game client is very user friendly.
imp
I've got BG2 EE gog version so it's no a money problem. Only problem is that I've got CTD (crash to desktop) and I'm unable to play the game. As I wrote before I tried reinstal bg2 ee couple times and reinstal/uninstall some mods and the problem still exist. CTD occur when romance music start playing (so it's just before romance talk). At the beginning there wasn't so many crashes so I was able to play couple hours (about 20h - according to gog).
nullset
Sorry again, imp. Sounds like a problem with the gog version. Since I have no access to that version, I can't debug it. I also understand there have been issues with the Steam version. These two issuers obviously make changes for there own (proprietary) setups, which are at variance with the Beamdog original. I made and modify my mod to work on the Beamdog engine. Afraid I can't help you with your problem. Those franchises need to stop screwing around, complicating things to secure their client base. Reminds me of Microsoft...
imp
I doubt that's gog version problem wink.gif. I've uninstalled Banter Pack and problem with crashing is gone.
Do You have idea why after reinstall Rjali mod (and couple others) in game Rjali don't have her name only some kind of sentence (like I wrote above)? Addition to that when I choose her, she don't have any voice.
I've installed all mods normally, without using BWS wink.gif

OK. I believe that the Banter Pack includes bantergoose which is known to cause problems. If Banter Pack offers the option to NOT install bantergoose, you might want to try that. It's not the banter that causes the problem: it's the goose!

Yeah, I used to have that sort of problem with names and things. What usually caused it was the uninstallation of a mod out-of-sequence (something other than the last mod installed) which tends to screw up the dialog.tlk repository. My suggestion here is to do a clean install from scratch and start a new game. I always keep a copy of the initial game install (before any mods) to use as a benchmark for just this purpose. I never know when my ignorance is gonna run me into a dead-end that requires starting all over again. For my usual testing, I make sure that Rjali is the LAST mod installed and, when I make a change, I completely uninstall Rjali, replace the Rjali folder, and do a new install of Rjali; this seems to maintain the dialog.tlk properly.
Seewead
@imp: Well, your description of the bug was really rather short and vague. Not easy to understand your problem exactly.

But let me take a wild guess here: You were using the banter pack in a non-english language? Right.

In that case you can find a possible explanation of your problem in the post #7 in the thread "Bug Reports" in this very forum. Let me copy and paste here a bit:

"The reason for the freeze-up of the game was indeed the NPC flirt packs version 1.03 in its german translation (the same goes probably for every non-english language). While that mod has full ee-compatibilty allright, it is not possible to use the non-english translations the mod provides together with the enhanced edition games. Though I am no modder myself, this is what some reading and searching in the web suggests as explanation: The classic BG-games seemed to work with text-strings in the old format "ANSI CP1252", whereas the enhanced editions changed this to the new format "UTF-8" (without BOM). Not changing this format in a mod doesn't seem to pose a problem for the use of the english language, because that still works fine for all latin letters (that are used by the english language). However if any given language needs non-latin letters (e.g.: ß, ä, ü, é, ê and so forth) this freezes the game for good. Same goes for the use of symbols. In any case this bug had nothing to do with the Rjali-Mod."

The same is not only valid for the flirt pack, but - as far as I can see - equally for the banter pack as well. As you can find out, if you want to read this thread ( http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php?topic=28840.0 ) in the corresponding forum for the banter pack.

That is the reason why it says in the post #1 of the thread "Compatibility" in this forum:
"C.
Also I would like to urge you to install all mods in english language only, no matter what. Go for foreign language translations only, if you have secured that these truly work with the new file format that was brought to us by the Enhanced Editions! Most of the time it does NOT."

But apparently there is a brand new version 15 (still beta) of the banter pack, that is provided for testing since June 13th 2017, that claims to have remedied the problem. See on the same page for the banter pack ( http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php?topic=29652.0 ).

Don't know if it works bugfree though. As I said: still beta.

Look, I don't know if that could adress your problem. In any case Nullset was right for sure when he advises you to never reinstall any mod (that way the necessary installation sequence will not be coherent any more - very bad). Go for a clean install instead. Obviously the file "dialog.tlk" in your installation was seriously broken.

Seewead

edit: small spelling error
imp
Seewead, yes You are right. I used PL version of some mods. I was searching yesterday for another solution, and I find that EE isn't full compatible with translations (I've got also crashes with trying to upgrade weapons by Cromwell). IU mod was fixed (only in installing by BWS).
So that't a bit dissapointing that EE version is a lot worse than original BG2.

nullset one more question. I have a bug in the ending of ToB, probably with Imoen Romance mod - after decision Imoen says "wow (or something like that" and I can't response, I have in dialog menu "no valid links or replies" and dialog ends and nothing happens - all my party still attacking Amelissana and I don't have endings for NPC. So my question is: where the endings are put in mod - with this info I'll be able to read endings in Near nfinity or Notepad++.

This usually indicates that some mod has made an interjection that fouls up other mods' interjections. The solution is to click on the "NO VALID LINKS OR REPLIES". This will terminate the dialogue and will, hopefully, allow the game to procede as normal. The endings, whether you mean the epilogues or just the responses to the PC's decision on assencion, vary from mod to mod. You're on your own here.

I have to confess that I don't play Imoen in the ToB part of the game, precisely because the code is very complex and may not always be compatible with other mods (my own included). I park her in the deArnise Keep as soon as she has been romanced and scouted. As a consequence, I have no answers to any problems related to her in ToB. You might think of registering your problem with the Imoen Romance website.

I will try a runthrough of ToB with Imoen in my party and see what I can find. I will get back to you on it as soon as I can.
imp
Yes, normally this option works, but in my case nothing happens -> dialog ends, and my party attacks again (dead) amellisana wink.gif. I'll try quick playthrough with Imoen send to Keep

That will certainly solve the problem. I have done that runthrough and encountered the same problem. I was wrong about the Imoen Romance mod (ToB) in general as the v3.9 is in general solid, but there is definitely a problem in it caused by certain variables not being set by the end of ToB. Not sure just why, but I suspect a timing problem. In any case, I am putting a workaround patch into Rjali v8.5 which worked for me; it isn't a full fix, but it will get you to the end of the game with Imoen in your party. Until v8.5 is released, you can use the CLUAConsole to patch it: just before going to the final showdown with Mellisan, C:SetGlobal("LRTMad","GLOBAL",1). The patch and this fix assume that Imoen is romanced: ImoenRomanceActive=2.

I plan to pass this info along to the Imoen Romance mod website, and it is to be hoped that they will look into it.
nullset
OK, imp. I have looked into it, and I think I can see what is happening in the Imoen Romance in the ToB section. Instead of relying on timed dialogues to set various variables, IR uses PIDs (Player Initiated Dialogues) which are triggered in various areas after various events. You gotta talk to Imoen FREQUENTLY! I am planning a runthrough to check this out. Rjali v8.5 will still have the patch just in case, at least until IR releases a bug fix.

As an aside, there is a hidden feature in IR ToB: Imoen can talk (initiated dialogue) with herself. Doesn't look like this affects any variables, but I was unaware of it myself. Just thought you might like to know.

Both also state that the readme might be posted in advance of the actually release. In fact, Baronius has been very busy and has not yet moved them into the download centre. He told me 24 hours, so they should be ready sometime today. Real boats rock!

I have just started work on v9.0 which will add a post game expansion segment. This will take some months to complete, further aggravated by some family business to which I must attend in those same months. With luck, it should be available by the end of the year. I know I mentioned this earlier, but it hasn't been until recently that my muse saw fit to visit me with the ideas needed to implement it. Sorry about that.

I don't know about a new era. The only really major change is the post-EOG expansion, and I have no idea how to make that compatible with anyone else trying to do the same thing. There is a bunch of stuff during the game, mostly bug fixes and minor niceties. I am adding a few parkables: Petsy; Amber in SoA by choice and forced in ToB because she has no ToB content; and Ninde in ToB only because her major plotline comes to fruition right at the end of SoA.

You will be glad to hear that things have gone much faster than I expected. I hope to release in July.

PS - The Sheena mod is evidently coming out with ToB content, and there is a version of the Amber mod with ToB content. Once I have 9.0 out the door, I will look at upgrading my Amber material and including Sheena (whenever the ToB version comes out).
nullset
OK. 9.0 is released and should appear for download sometime tomorrow. The readme is up in the usual place. I'm going to bed!

Dear Nullset, I am really keen on playing your new mod. Unfortunately, my time is sparse at the moment, therefore I am not able to try out all the shiny new toys you're presenting to us. Like I had no idea there will be TOB content for Sheena and even Amber. Wow.

Don't hold your breath on Sheena. It sounds like the mod is next door to moribund and, in any case, will be some time before ToB content is available. I have decided that only mods with ToB content will be included from now on. Also with the Sheena, I would like to include Mazzy who is an especial friend of Sheena's, but that one may or may not be terminal, We'll see.

Besides supported mod upgrades and new mods, there are going to be one or two little goodies in v9.1. Just don't expect them anytime soon.

Well, here it is. I am releasing v10.0, which was originally intended to be v9.1 but which, while there are no new major features, has such a lot of changes that it merits a major version number. Sheena is included, although she has only SoA content. There is a critical fix occasioned by BG2EE v2.5 which blew the Nordom quest out of the water. Enjoy.

Could you please upload archived version v2.82? Automated installer tool may not handle the current version v10.0. I am also looking for Fade Romance v7.3b. I cannot find anywhere though Fade v5.1 is available.

Firstly, there never has been a v2.82 of Rjali. Secondly, there have been so many additions, upgrades, and bug fixes that I am unwilling to go back to versions anywhere near that old. And lastly, what automated installer tool would that be? To the best of my knowledge, the supplied WeiDU install works just fine, and I have heard no recent complaints about BWS installs. Now, I have heard nothing on the Mac install, having dealt only with a user who was at that time only doing the Jini mod which we got working for him. I'm really not sure what your problem is here.

As to Fad v7.3b, you'll have to look more closely at the offered downloads, as the Fade author does not always update the announced version when issuing a new release. That v5.1 you are talking about just might be v7.3b. I went spare when I ran into this; now, it's your turn!

My mistake. I must have been tired. I am looking for version v8.5. According to v18 BiG World guide it needs to be v8.5 version. But if the components stayed after v8.5 the same then it should be fine.

@zelazko It really should be fine with BWS. The components have not changed. I fantasize sometimes about changing things around but, so far, I just smack myself upside the head until I feel better. I shudder everytime I think of the gyrations I would have to go through with BWS to make changes like that. Nope. I am and will remain a wuss.
