Yes, please, those who haven't used their replacement possibility yet should provide an unambigious answer to #4 (of course, the replacement submission allows any other corrections as well without any penalty points). It seems I will be the judge, because Sir Carnifex will be on vacation (everyone can decide whether this is good or bad Sir Carnifex made the questions and answers, but I will have to give 0 scores so I will be hated I guess). The replacement submission is a good possibility: for example, we also received a completely wrong guess to the scene itself, so I advise everyone (or those who feel it might be their entry) to read the first paragraph of my previous post again.

...this is far more complicated than any contest should be.
May I should just quit participating, lest I make an even bigger fool out of myself. This post has been edited by Moongaze: Jul 10 2008, 05:14 PM -------------------- -Transition into darkness-

Feel free to express your doubts if that helps you to get rid of the excitement caused by the contest's difficulty Although the decision is up to every participant (and it can be changed in each week), someone with one of the best results of Week 1 shouldn't be considering to quit, in my opinion.
There is always a choice when organizing a contest. One could say that it's all about fun, so let's make easy questions. But wouldn't it be boring if all questions could be answered in a minute and everyone got 6/6 (or 5/6) points all the time? It wouldn't be exciting in my opinion, because everyone would know for 100% that their answers are correct. No surprise, no fun. -------------------- Mental harmony dispels the darkness.

Yeah, I know. I'm not asking to lower the difficulty. It's just a little frustrating when you don't know the answer and a question confuses you, making you answer from a very different perspective (game, modding, for example) while you're indeed in second place and trying to keep it or improving it. Of course there's no real serious consequence for losing, nor is it bad if I do end up losing (which will happen anyway, is my guess), but it remains a contest. I don't know about the rest of you, but I play to win.
How many pictures are going to follow after this second one, anyway? I mean, we could be doing this until Christmas 2010 if we wanted to. -------------------- -Transition into darkness-

QUOTE How many pictures are going to follow after this second one, anyway? Everything is described in the initial post of this topic. QUOTE Of course there's no real serious consequence for losing, nor is it bad if I do end up losing (which will happen anyway, is my guess), but it remains a contest. I don't know about the rest of you, but I play to win. And unless you quit or another mod developer enters meanwhile, you probably will. I haven't seen any modder among the participants so far, and the task associated with the 10th picture will be BG2 mod creation (for 6 points too). It's a contest, so anything can happen. I think the best is when you find the balance between the excitement to win and the easy-going approach. The latter one allows you to enjoy the contest even if you don't get high score, while the first one (if kept on moderate level) may cause beneficial stress and helps you to investigate each question in details. That is, I would want to win but also wouldn't be too disappointed if I couldn't win. -------------------- Mental harmony dispels the darkness.

And of course, the real reason for these contests is so the evil organizers can laugh at those who get wrong answers to ridiculously difficult questions!
Actually not. But as the "artist" of these, ALL of these questions seem extraordinarily easy to me because I already know the answers. That makes it a bit more difficult in deciding how hard it is for someone who has to make a guess. Baronius is my only "Beta Guesser", so I just have to go by what he says. -------------------- "Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back into the same box." - Italian Proverb

That all makes sense.
And... the final picture will require modding? Oh dear.. -------------------- -Transition into darkness-

Gold Cross of Modding isn't given for free. Yes, it will require making a quest mod of approximately half the size of Improved Anvil. There will be one month to finish and submit the mod.
Joking apart, it will be just something simple... we don't know the details yet, but I would like it to offer much space for creativity & freedom, without requiring too many mod development skills from the participant. -------------------- Mental harmony dispels the darkness.

what's with the results of the 2 week? What do you mean? The deadline is July 17th. It's July 15th today. Results likely won't come until after the 17th. -------------------- -Transition into darkness-

Now in explaining the rules of the contest, you are giving away clues, almost answers!
It is supposed to be about real adepts of the game! (Unless it is essential to make BG more popular, not to keep it elitist ) This post has been edited by HERD: Jul 15 2008, 09:45 AM |

There is still more than one day left until the deadline, so entries can still be submitted.
The announcement of results will happen similarly to Week 1. That is, it will happen real-time on BlackWyrmLair's chat server on 18th July (Friday). You can easily join that in a few seconds by using our Chat Webpage, more details can be seen in this post. Just like in Week 1, the results will be announced on the forums as well after 1-2 days (so not before 19th July). Since only two participants were present on the chat when Week 1 results were announced, I think we should agree in the exact time together so all those who are too excited to wait days will have the possibility to learn the results. Please specify your preferences in GMT (you can compare GMT with your time here). Since Sir Carnifex is away, only I will be present to announce the results. My preferences for 18th: any time between 00:00 GMT and 02:00 GMT, or any time between 13:00 GMT and 23:00 GMT. So if you're interested, post your preferences! -------------------- Mental harmony dispels the darkness.

The sooner, the better. I'm not much of an evening/night person unless I'm at a gig.
12:00 'till 19:00 GMT would be my preferred times. -------------------- -Transition into darkness-

We won't be chatting, dzidek1983, the results will be announced and that's all (of course, if someone wants, he or she can stay; as always, the BWL chat server is at your service 24/7)
