I’ve thought a bit about publishing this post, because I know how strongly negative you feel towards the EE, and... I’m actually conflicted about them too.
I don’t know what’s your current stance about it, given what I read from you in both Spellhold studios and here. But I remember an actual “challenge” you published that wasn’t being actually fought, and that challenge was “can you name me three different things that makes it worth switching to the EE”? So, I’ll go for it: 1) The first “good” change from the EE was the addition of new opcodes that make it possible for modders to actually go crazy. There are some new mods whose birth was due to the EE and this can’t be neglected. A few examples: - Scales of Balance: https://github.com/UnearthedArcana/Scales_o...aster/README.md You may not be interested into it, but please take a look at the Stat Bonus overhaul component. I enjoy it very much and it seems impossible to convert it for BG2 classical edition: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/comme...Comment_1102628 - New kits, like Chaos Sorcerer: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/comme...Comment_1086395 - New content, like: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/60602...spellcasters/p1 2) There are some cool QoL changes added for EE. Some examples: - the rapid loot menu (where you can loot all the stuff without having to go over every corpse all the time) - the fact that you can actually equip other one handed weapons stuff even if you have two handed weapons equipped. 3) The advent of monitors with extra high resolution makes EE convenient. In the past I would have agreed 101% with you that the EE did not deserve being bought. But the new possibilities they offer are not to be overlooked. Give it a thought about giving a chance to convert or actually converting Nej and Vlad to EE Regards This post has been edited by Sergio1992: Apr 8 2021, 06:18 AM |

Sergio, I'm now into modern 3D games, such as Fallout 4, FarCry 5 etc, where the immersion is maximal. I just needed a very good PC, which I built myself a year ago. I'm waiting for BG3 as well. Also RL takes a lot of attention. There is absolutely nothing that can attract me to EE versions of the BG saga. I'll gladly make the fixes according to your and Senka's list, probably on dark winter evenings, but there is no a single chance I go for EE versions.
Notwithstanding the above, if someone wants to convert my mods to EE, I have no objections. But that should be genuine conversion of the latest versions, without mixing with anything else. BP with my mods has been a bad idea for quite some time, bugs, terrible support, logical incompatibility of the mods, complaints etc etc. I don't want the same issues with the EE conversions. I would say you are totally right, but I realized one thing: even if BG saga is so old, it still retains a faithful fanbase due to the sheer quality.
Allow me to say that many of the games you mentioned will probably wither and be forgotten, while Baldur's gate won't. Add on top of that that when BG3 will be out, the interest even in their predecessors will rise up. This post has been edited by Sergio1992: Oct 31 2019, 07:51 AM |

Honestly I don't believe in BG3 at all. Who would write the dialogues? Who would design the quests? Do you see them? Me not.

This link (http://www.shsforums.net/topic/61037-bwp-v19-released/) describes some of the issues that can be met if you try to play classical BG version with windows 10.

I've never had any problem with Windows 10. Unless I get and confirm one, I cannot consider Windows 10 to have any issue with the game.

While not Neverending Journey in EE/EET, tipun made this series of mods to add Icewind Dale 1 & 2 in an EET campaign.

NeJ is not about playing IWD in BG. It's a huge game which uses the areas and settings of IWD, but the plot/story, characters and quests are unique.
