Agree that the pre-buffing before these fights is tedious and is part of the reason I'll do an IA run, then like 3 or 4 Tactics/SCS runs and spend a year doing something else before considering IA again. They have their challenging battles, but they are less frequent and I can challenge myself in other ways without needing to complete a very specific sequence of 11 buffs per character beforehand. Off the top of my head, I wonder if there is some way to create a script that allows for Alacrity and spellcasting time = 0 as long as you're not in combat. Someone should try a run with absolutely no pre-buffing! That might be really fun or really miserable. |

I do every fight without prebufffing.... until after 5 reloads I find out that it is not feasible, then I test which buffs I need minimally. I don't like prebuff much... too much work

There were certain times when a Wizard Slayer's ability is useless - like when enemy mages use AI scrolls. And those are usually the big mage fights. But any other mage and a Lich here and there he could render them useless. Sometimes they recovered pretty soon with a scroll of PfMW, but any missed castings makes a big difference. I had to time my hits in between castings of PfMW obviously, but if I got even a few seconds to hit them it seemed like he disrupted them more often than not. Not being able to use anything but armor, weapons and healing potions wasn't too bad. Armor Class stunk but with 2 Handed weapons he wasn't on the front lines most of the time. You just have to keep an eye on him as far as protections go. Overall he's a beast in any encounter - mages or not. I've made a successful no-reload solo run of the Ascension modded game with a Wizard Slayer, and most of the time he was throwing around axes. There are good throwing axes throughout the game (non-enchanted and enchanted), so he can stay out of enemy melee reach (thus not provoke any AI or PFMW castings) and apply enough hits for 100% spellcasting failure, then all party fighters can gang the unfortunate mage. However, there are IA enemies which use ForceCasting that cannot be interrupted even by a WS' miscast ability (not to mention the numerous scrolls each mage carries). All in all, I see an Anvil WS as a weak party fighter who lacks good saves, and you're gonna probably regret taking him in the EDE fight where he will be Repulsed by the Prince far too often. But I guess a WS is still good for the fun of it. This post has been edited by Krell: Jun 24 2015, 11:32 AM |

In IA,Wizard Slayer cannot interrupt enemy spellcasting with any ranged weapon. Most big bosses cannot be interrupted either(All dragons,Orcus,Rakashasa Prince etc.),Supreme Leader and Mirror Master are two exceptions.

IAv6 was updated to include ranged weapons disrupting enemies. Naturally he can't disrupt enemies that are immune to spell failure, however. QUOTE IAv6 was updated to include ranged weapons disrupting enemies. Didn't know that,my IA version was not the latest one…So maybe you're right. If ranged weapon can cause spell failure,Wizard Slayer is indeed an interesting choice. |

If you use bg2ee it was also in their latest patch. So then you would not need the latest ia version. |

I'm satisfied with my current version,it is a Chinese translation one and it has no obvious bug…Certainly,If v6.2 or v7 has released,I'll try it…
