Full Version: PST writing style
The Black Wyrm's Lair - Forums > Mods under development - Baldur's Gate II > World Transition Project
Awake
To let you all know, we are going to be using the Planescape: Torment style of writing. We had a little vote over it in the workroom and we got a majority decision that PST has the best writing style of them all, so that's what we are using. For an example in case you haven't played the game:

Bob: He lifts his glass in celebration of the event. "May all our days be as happy as this one!" *gulp*

There. I'm sure you get the idea. Feel free to ask if you need more explaining.

Good choice
Awake
Actually, it's a wonderful choice. I was working on some dialogues earlier today, and I remembered one of my favorite characteristics of PST writing style is the ability to initiate dialogue or to just walk away. Example(in WeiDU format, sorry):

IF ~NumTimesTalkedTo(0)~ THEN BEGIN 0
SAY ~This elf is crouched over the work table adjusting the string on a bow.~
IF ~~ THEN REPLY ~Tap him on the shoulder. "Hello there."~
IF ~~ THEN REPLY ~Leave him alone.~

Sorry, I couldn't think of another way to put that up.
