The average BG2 player probably has moments when nearly all the Bioware NPCs strike a wrong nerve. They whine too much, they're bossy, they're egotistical. Sometimes you'd just like to say a lot to them that you can't, because they would leave, turn hostile, or because Bioware didn't give you an option to do so. Well, now you can pick away at all their faults and annoying aspects with the help of Halbo: NPC for Baldur's Gate II.

Halbo is an over-sized (big for his race) neutral evil Halfling thief. He finds enjoyment in the discomfiture of others. He will search around until he finds a particular sore point of the NPCs to run them down, irritate them, or set them against each other. He's definitely not the ideal friend or a person who will bring cohesion to a party already at odds with each other. Despite his sharp tongue and insulting wit, Halbo is not one to back up his words with his actions. He's generally a coward when facing battle and will do his best to avoid a fight.

His main skills as a thief are pick-pocketing and setting/finding traps. His preferred weapon is a sling (at which he is very proficient).

Besides being a thorn in the side, his main hobbies are eating/critiquing food, smoking his pipe, and hatching schemes to gain riches.

BIOGRAPHY:

When asked about his past, the stout halfling tells you that he lived in the village of Gullykin for much of his life. While working in the local winery, he honed his skills with a sling by killing the mice and rats that infested the cellars. During a goblin raid, he chose to flee and made his way south to Amn, taking only his equipment and his precious pipe. Along the way, he joined a traveling merchant and his guards as a measure of protection against bandits. However, he was soon expelled from the group due to "prejudice against halflings". Weary from his long journey, he finally stumbled his way into Trademeet, where he set up temporary residence. He frequently made forays into the druid grove in search of pipeweed, something he was doing when he met you. Although he is willing to travel with your party, you wonder how long he will stay since he clearly dislikes the dangers of adventuring.
