Full Version: Problems with Bandits in House quest

Enjoyed the mod so far but I've ran into a problem. When I locate the dying man, he tells me bandits are in the house. But I've entered every house in the map area, no bandits. Haven't found a thread involving this issue. Everything up to this point has gone fine, per what I've read in the walkthrough.

Have you checked the maps as well that belong to the walkthrough? Are there no bandits in the house near the dying man? (Map3 here) Do you have other mods installed?

Yes...I have the correct area. No bandits in the house. I have other mods installed. This mod is part of a mega-weidu install. Is there a file I can drop in my override to solve this problem. If a list of my weidu log is needed, I'll post.

The problem is most likely related to the area's script. Anyway, please post weidu.log and SETUP-TGC1E.DEBUG. Do you use BG1Tutu?

I checked the downloadable BGT version of TGC1E (I see that you use BG Trilogy), the corresponding script source files also seem to be OK.

I suspect incompatibility with another mod. I don't remember hearing about any mod that has problems with this, but I don't know most mods very well.
Contact Ascension64 (he might notice this thread), he made the BGT conversion. He might know (or will investigate) the reason of the problem/incompatibility.

Ah, I see. I really need the .BCS files, since they are the key. Can you download InfExp from http://infexp.sourceforge.net/ and extract AR7263.BCS and AR7264.BCS from the .bif files? Hopefully, those scripts are definitely not in the override directory.

I thought WeiDU's EXTEND_TOP always put extended BCS script files to Override (if they aren't in Override in the time of installation, it extracts it from the BIF and then extends it...). If TGC has been installed correctly, those files should be in the Override, shouldn't it? Or is this different with BGT?

Downloaded InfExp but it would not let me access the .bif files. Also not sure which .bif file I should be looking for.

Simply type AR7263.BCS and AR7264.BCS into the box where the buttons are just below the menus. If you have those files, some text should show in the main window. (Note, if that doesn't work, you may have to go to File -> Locate file by name), then try again. If it says that the file can't be found, then you probably don't have it.

After you have opened up one of those file, go to File -> Export current file... -> Save. What you end up getting is .BAF files instead of .BCS. Just rename those .BAF to .TXT if this forum doesn't let you attach .BAF.

Well, InfExp looks inside the BIFF files. If those two files are not inside any BIFF files, AND you cannot find them in your override directory, you might have a serious problem on your hands. You may have to re-install this mod.

HI...i have the same problem as the guy who created this topic,except i have tutu installed...i entered that house before installing the mode..and now there is no bandits in the house...is there any solution?i never used tools NearInfinity...so...i am waiting for a reply and hopping for a solution ...

Cmorgan confirmed my guess. The problem is because the area had been cached (because you visited it before installing TGCEp1), so it didn't "notice" the script assigned by TGCEp1. (Many areas of the original game have no script names assigned. When you start a new game next time with Tutu, make sure to install the newest EasyTutu. It fixes the issue.) So we've two options:
1. You load an earlier save game that had been made before you visited this area. I guess you don't want this, because you've advanced in the game meanwhile.
2. You send me your latest savegame file (so the one you will load when you continue playing). Go to the "Save" folder of your game's main folder, and enter the directory of the savegame (the name of the directory helps to find it). You will see a file with name "baldur.sav" there. Send it to my email address, and I'll send it back to you. wink.gif

Do you have the newest (I think 24 Dec) EasyTutu release? As far as I know, it solves the problem with assigned scripts.

Just send baldur.sav. It's OK if it's from a Quick Save. My email is: baronius [at] bwl [dot] net (but bwl should be written in its long form).

Yes, I received them now. Your previous email must have been lost somehow. I've replied your PM with the details, but I forgot to mention that you have to replace the original baldur.sav (in the folder where you copied it from) with the baldur.sav I've sent. Then load your savegame (the one we updated!) and visit the areas in the game. I edited the file very quickly, I hope I didn't make any mistake during the process.
