This thread doesn't reveal too much about the role of these NPCs in the mod itself. Just a general description, taken from the Clan's background-world. So the knowledge of this information will not spoil your fun while playing the mod.

The world of the Clan is certainly much greater than it is introduced in Episode One. The story of In Candlelight shows one segment, one aspect of the aforementioned world. This is certainly true in the respect of non-playing characters as well.

Lord Jusam, Jeremias, Rudi "The Metaphysician", Tergius the Sage, Lord Desider, General Jedyan, Dark Grachus, Lady Monica Adalbert, Hertuk, Lord Falcondrake, Commander "Greyfist", Xephistagoras, D'Hastilles Al-Teragonius, Sir Roland, High Sorceress Linda, High Sorceress Petrarca, High Sorceress Annamarie, High Sorceress Octavia, High Sorceress Alexandra, High Sorceress Julianna, High Sorceress Susanne, Reufasio "the Collector", Talibehius and many many others form the characters of this world. You can only meet some of these in Episode One.

Below you can find short descriptions of a few NPCs who appear In Candlelight.

THE FLAMING FIST

Lord Jusam
A powerful member of the Flaming Fist. His conscious decisions and his enormous strength have made him honoured among the soldiers, dreaded among the enemies of the Fist. He can usually be seen wearing his golden chain mail, and wielding a war hammer. It is said that once he shattered three granite golems with one hit of this legendary weapon.

Tergius the Sage
An old sage, the mentor of Lord Jusam. No one knows how old he is. It is said that when asked about his age, he answered that he had no idea. The last event of his life that he remembered by date was when Mystra, the god of magic visited him. He was 113 years old, and was constantly chatting with Mystra for 30 years. No mortal creature, save Tergius himself, knows what they talked about.

General Jedyan
A legendary soldier, friend of Jusam. Although a member of the armed forces, his greatest dream is a peaceful and flourishing Baldur's Gate, without wars and suffering. Many say that he is a fool, because striving for peace on the Sword Coast is a waste of time, and Jedyan has devoted his life to it.

Talibehius
A soldier with no metal armour and bad manners but with noble deeds. As an orphan he early became a vagrant, but Jedyan found the strong and open-hearted child, and brought him up as his own. Talibehius didn't know who his parents were, and having no name, was called "Dog" by those who knew him. His current name was given by General Jedyan.

THE CLAN'S FORCES

Gartuffe
A high-ranking half-ogre of the Grey Clan. He has great strength, but it is his black skin which makes him infamous. He usually beheads anyone who dares to criticize him in any way, or even just addresses him when he isn't in a talkative mood. The only exception save his superiors is his friend, "Bloody" Jim, a sadist bandit. It is said that Gartuffe has a younger brother as well who is also a high-ranking leader in the bandits' world.

High Sorceress Linda
A very experienced spellcaster, with the innate ability of Magical Alacrity, which makes her a very dangerous enemy in combat. Her arcane knowledge is much greater than most Sorcerers have, and no one knows where she studied the magical arts. Many say that she is actually a Wizard, and not a Sorcerer.

Commander "Greyfist"
A former general of the Flaming Fist. He was one of their best but his greed of gain enticed him from the service of the law. He was the member of the Fist until the time he prevented a group of Flaming Fist deserters from getting arrested after they had broken into the Duchal Palace to steal gold and jewellery. He killed his own companion, General Firesword, and then with the help of the deserters slaughtered the startled soldiers as well as two children, who were witnesses to the crime.

Dark Grachus
A powerful wizard, master of magical runes and tattoos. Just like Greyfist, he was also a member of the Flaming Fist. As an experienced priest of Tempus, he was a great aid for the Fist during any battle. He gave up his religion, but did not lose his abilities due to the terrible power of his new mentor, Dreadlord Xephistagoras. In fact, the power of Grachus has become greater than ever. It is said that he has recently destroyed an entire Amnish legion alone.
