I was about to post a new topic asking about NPC mod compatibilities, since I currently have Longer Road installed, when I found this topic.

I've played through Longer Road but haven't tried Improved Anvil yet, since I'm still considering it. I do have this to warn about incompatibilities with Longer Road. I currently have a Tactics + Ascension type setup, which was incompatible with LR because Tactics changes the behavior of the portals on level 3 of Watcher's Keep. The portals are necessary to spawn the beblilith demon character, so the quest is unfinishable unless you've installed Longer Road later in the installation. The same would go for any mod that changes the scripts or the behavior of level 3 of WK, but I'm not sure what IA does in that regard.

The other NPC mod I'm concerned about is the Xan BG2 mod, which includes a handful of new quests involving Xan. The readme files for IA said that installing any mod that adds new quests is not recommended. The specifics of the quests can be found in the mod's readme: http://mods.pocketplane.net/kulyok/Readme-Xan.txt
Would this mod be incompatible with IA?

The installation document says that you should avoid installing mods which add new spells or items to the game. The document is silent about mods which add quests. If the mod doesn't add spells, but just adds a few items, you can install it, but you should be careful not to use the items. Just leave them on the ground or sell them.

However, some players (rightfully) have reservations about adding too many quest mods to the game, because the extra xp from those quests may affect their game's balance and break IA's overall (challenging) atmosphere.

If you play Xan as a sorcerer, you wouldn't have any compatibility problems I'm aware of. However, if you use Xan as a mage (rather than sorcerer), you will need to manually delete some spells from his spellbook. These are mostly spells which have been replaced with new spells in IA; scrolls of those new spells are supposed to be hard-to-attain. Mages of your party aren't supposed to have them in their spellbooks right from the beginning of the game.

If you play any mod with IA and can confirm that they are (in)compatible, we'll appreciate if you let us (and other players) know the result.

Improved Anvil

Cheating is not confined to using external software or the console commands. Abusing the flaws and limitations of the game engine to do something that a human Dungeon Master would not accept or allow is cheating.
