Aloha fellow modders (and players).

In BGII, you create your character by choosing its race and class.
In PST, you just set Nameless One's abilities and you begin the game as a fighter, thus you can change his class through the game.

I'm wondering if choosing a character generation more like PST could be a more convenient choice. What do you think?

I enjoyed the PST character development very much. I can't decide what I like better, though. I think in BGII a PST-esque character development would look strange. In a completely new world however... *not being much of a help*

The main character being a TNO or TNO is imo the worst thing about PS:T. That's why I still can't play the game. It was a horrible mistake, lazziness, lack of money or whatever of the developpers that caused that. At the very least a player should be able to chose a gender. The more he or she can customize the main character, the better, in my opinion.

I think that I would prefer BG style, but in a more refined way.
Classes should be more unique (with more specific abilities and magic [where applicable], specialist wizards having special spells etc.)

I'd go for a mix :-)
Let the user choose things, but also provide an in-game training/learning system, so they can alter class.

I can send you a partial example of a revamped char-gen system if you're interested.

In ROTM, the player can "customize" his character at each level, by selecting "feat" or new abilities, using the HLA system from ToB (which is required for the TC).

For example, the new "ranger" has two kind of "feats": archery-related (increased THAC0, damage or attack per round) and survival-related feats (traps, ambidextry or poison). Or a thief (aka a rogue in ROTM, like D&D) can improve his thief abilities (pickpocket or lockpicking) or more offensiv ones, like hide in shadows, poison and backstab bonus. And so on...

I disagree here.
I think that a single unique character was a think that made P:T very deep.

Other thing is that I prefer my character to be have more seductive looks.
