As Limner's empire fell, each of the old allies fell with them. Without the central empire, each of the races had to learn to govern themselves.

Prior to to the return of the ancient evil, Limner had ruled for nearly a thousand years. His life had been extended by use of magic. Much of the true history of that age has been lost, and each of the empires consideres it a different date, based on the founding date of their own new governments.

The dwarves and halflins have become allies. The elves have shut down their boarders to outsiders, the desert empire (unclaimed and unnamed currently) welcomes outsiders, but keep their secrets well guarded. The human government is as it has always been - corrupt.

The orc and goblin empires have a vague alliance, brokered by ogres with their own plans. the yaunti have become xenophobic, hating and fearing anyone not like them.

----------------------------

Traditionally history is written by the victors, but each empire claims responcibility for winning the war that ended the 100 year war of the 'long dark'. Each has their own tales of glory. The truth can be found for those that truely seek it; the defeat of the ancient darkness was a long time ago, and the people of Mythera were victorious through coorporation, and a lot of dumb luck.

The lightbringers vanished, they are still out there somewhere. The ancient dark has been defeated, but has arisen before - and one day may return.

The forces of the dark had alies amoung the living, but time has forgotten who the true traitors were, and the elves which were forced into darkness during the long dark have been given the blame.
