Going solo is my latest in "spicing up" my games. I'm currently playing with a Gnome Ftr/Ill and a Human Berserker who will dual class to Mage at level 13. Any other good combos? LMK what you've had a good time with in the past!
I'm conisdering trying an Avenger out... I've never used one before! -------------------- Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!

The tendecny to Kensai-> mage is based on the argument that a kensai cannot wear armor anyway and thus dualling him to a mage will not add a serious penalty to what already existed. The immunities gained through berserker's rage can arguably (to some more or less extent) be gained by the spells the kensai->mage will have access to. And the kensai has a tad better Thaco and damage bonuses depending on the level you choose to dual.
Berserker-> mage, on the other, has its own advantages over kensai->mage as well. As you mentioned he can use more items such as bracers, he has the rage ability which means he can memorize more offensive spells, etc... In general, I agree that berserker->mage is probably preferable. But since you want to solo the game, I suggest that you go for a multi-class character (instead of dual class), because a solo character will gain xp much faster and you will be able to progress in your fighter class as well. -------------------- Improved Anvil
