When a new BG2 game starts if you accidentally click on Shar-Teel after her initial banter with Imoen about breaking her out of her cage, you get the result "Shar-Teel has nothing to say to you". Thereafter, even if you unlock her cage, she still won't talk to you. The only way to get the dialogs to kick off is to unlock the door 1st, and her joining dialog begins automatically with no prompting.
