Hi all,
I am currently working on a new level progression table to be added to IA v4.3. I'll appreciate if only those players who have played IA v4.2 with a party of 6 members send me a reply: What was your protagonist's xp at the end of SOA? Cheers -------------------- Improved Anvil

I did it once, and my protag was just above 3,2 million xp. I didn't touch WK , Windspear, and the black dragon and I also use QuestPack wich gives a bit more xp.
BTW he was a dwarven F/C Regards This post has been edited by Shaitan: Aug 23 2007, 08:37 AM -------------------- dooh!

Thanks, Shaitan!
I need a response from a player who has done all quests plus all WK while still in SOA portion of the game (preferably with no other mods installed). -------------------- Improved Anvil

I'll check one of my old saves tonight.
Do you want an XP number after completing all of the Tear of Bhaal quests but before killing Irenicus? I know I have a save for that. |

Sikret - out of curiosity, are you making it harder for all classes to raise levels, or just certain ones? (I don't expect you will be making it easier

Sikret - out of curiosity, are you making it harder for all classes to raise levels, or just certain ones? Harder for all classes but not equally harder for all of them. Moreover, I will also change the levels in which multi-class characters start to gain HLAs. They will gain HLAs a bit later than they currently do. Single-class characters will (more or less) start to gain HLAs at the same levels they do now. In other words, multi-class characters will require more xp than single-class ones to start gaining HLAs. They will need to reach certain high levels before they can pick HLAs. The abilities are "High level abilities" after all (not high xp abilities). This is another good change in favor of single class characters and against multi-class ones to close the gap of power between them. Of course, a multi-class fighter will still gain HLAs while still below level 20 in his fighterhood, though not as early as he could have HLAs before. The exact amounts require more testing as well as more info and feedback from testers. I am still waiting for an informative reply in this thread too. -------------------- Improved Anvil

I've played several Shadows of Amn games (experiencecap removed and of course no Watcher's Keep) where my party ended up with 3-3.5 million experience, simply because I switched NPCs a bit and did their extra quests. I think people are bound to change early NPCs for midgame NPCs if they get items that would suit the new NPCs better. I've booted Haer'Dalis for Mazzy because next to short swords I got some nice bows and I've swapped Jaheira for Korgan when I found some nice axes, just as examples. That can open up new quests (Jaheira has good experience gain for the party in her Baron Ployer quest and the Harper Hold).
I think the total amount of XP in the game is so high that you can end up with 3 million easily at the end of Shadows of Amn. If you add hte amount of XP you added with Improved Anvil then you'll probably have a good estimate for an IA installation. |

Yes, it seems that in the vanilla game, the estimated xp (for the protagonist) at the end of SOA (minus WK) is about 3.4 to 3.8 Million xp.
When IA is installed, the estimated xp at the end of SOA (accroding to 2 of my testers) with a party of 6 and for a ranger protagonist who has also done the expanded ranger stronghold quests are respectively 5.2 Million xp (without doing WK) and 7.8 Million xp (with doing WK). I'm still waiting for Vardaman's reply as a third criterion to have a reliable average conclusion. And yes, the xp also depends on the NPCs you have in the party. -------------------- Improved Anvil

Yes, Shaitan. But without touching Windspear Hills, you didn't also do the post-Firkraag adventures and with an F/C protagonist you didn't do any of the expanded strongholds, right?

Sorry about the delay; I've been away from my computer the last few days.
My party of 6 had just over 7.5 million XP just before the fight with Irenicus in Hell. This is including WK, the expanded mage stronghold, the two extra Windspear Hills quests (but not the Ranger stronghold quests). I did have the "multiple strongholds" mod installed so I did get some extra XP off of that. I didn't have any other quest mods installed or ToD. The total's probably higher than average since I completed most quests and farmed a few Elemental Golems after I had reached a decent level. I think that's fair since they're tough enemies. Don't ramp up the XP levels too much, Sikrit. ![]() |

Thanks, Vardaman! Your report is consistent with other reports I had received and confirms them. Of course, all enemies in v4.3 have about 10-20% less xp value than v4.2 (for example killing an elemental golem will grant 75k xp (rather than 96k), but it won't change things very much.
An example of the new xp/level chart I have so far thought of is as follows: Level up table for rangers: QUOTE Level ------Vanilla game------New 8 ---------- 150,000----------150,000 9 ---------- 300,000 --------- 300,000 10 --------- 600,000 --------- 600,000 11 --------- 900,000 --------- 950,000 1 12 --------- 1,200,000 ------- 1,300,000 13 --------- 1,500,000 ------- 1,650,000 14 --------- 1,800,000 ------- 2,000,000 15 --------- 2,100,000 ------- 2,350,000 16 --------- 2,400,000 ------- 2,700,000 2 17 --------- 2,700,000 ------- 3,050,000 18 --------- 3,000,000 ------- 3,400,000 3 19 --------- 3,300,000 ------- 3,800,000 4 20 --------- 3,600,000 ------- 4,200,000 21 --------- 3,900,000 ------- 4,600,000 22 --------- 4,200,000 ------- 5,000,000 23 --------- 4,500,000 ------- 5,400,000 24 --------- 4,800,000 ------- 5,800,000 25 --------- 5,100,000 ------- 6,200,000 26 --------- 5,400,000 ------- 6,600,000 27 --------- 5,700,000 ------- 7,000,000 28 --------- 6,000,000 ------- 7,400,000 5 29 --------- 6,300,000 ------- 7,800,000 30 --------- 6,600,000 ------- 8,200,000 and so on (1) (+350k xp per lvl rather than 300k) (2) (R/Cs begin to gain HLAs) (3) (Single class rangers begin to gain HLAs) (4) (From here on, +400k xp per lvl) (5) (Approximately End of SOA) An alternate table which is now being tested is not to shift to +400k at all and keep the difference between levels at +350k (see below). The important thing I kept in mind was not to touch the table for low levels to let the party gain some power to be able to cope with the difficulty of the early game battles. The alternate table is this: QUOTE Level ------Vanilla game------New 8 ---------- 150,000----------150,000 9 ---------- 300,000 --------- 300,000 10 --------- 600,000 --------- 600,000 11 --------- 900,000 --------- 950,000 1 12 --------- 1,200,000 ------- 1,300,000 13 --------- 1,500,000 ------- 1,650,000 14 --------- 1,800,000 ------- 2,000,000 15 --------- 2,100,000 ------- 2,350,000 16 --------- 2,400,000 ------- 2,700,000 2 17 --------- 2,700,000 ------- 3,050,000 18 --------- 3,000,000 ------- 3,400,000 3 19 --------- 3,300,000 ------- 3,750,000 20 --------- 3,600,000 ------- 4,100,000 21 --------- 3,900,000 ------- 4,450,000 22 --------- 4,200,000 ------- 4,800,000 23 --------- 4,500,000 ------- 5,150,000 24 --------- 4,800,000 ------- 5,500,000 25 --------- 5,100,000 ------- 5,850,000 26 --------- 5,400,000 ------- 6,200,000 27 --------- 5,700,000 ------- 6,550,000 28 --------- 6,000,000 ------- 6,900,000 29 --------- 6,300,000 ------- 7,250,000 30 --------- 6,600,000 ------- 7,600,000 (End of SOA) and so on I will probably choose one of the two tables above based on the results of the tests. Currently, I lean towards the first table. -------------------- Improved Anvil

Do you plan to change XP/level chart of all classes? If yes, will it bring levels to closer with each other? (I mean thief/bard a bit slower lvling, mage/ranger/paladin a bit faster?)
And why do you want to slow down lvling? Lower monster XP with 20 % while lvling will be slowed down with additional 20-30 %. |

The first (more difficult level up) type of table is implemented.
