update (may be last one)

Just have EDE left, if I have patience someday to try it, but not sure at all to, so consider this journal closed.

general feedback of IA insane:
It is possible and no big deal to play and win on insane without using any exploit, provided party is strong (mine was, though I think that if I ever replay on insane I will try a dual Mage->fighter instead).
Nice thing with insane is that it brings a new flavour to playthrough, for me most notably changes fight difficulty ranking and oblige to prepare quite seriously before any serious fight.
What I like less with insane is that it does not allow to have any weakness or weirdness in party. No way here to attempt going with 4 mages and 2 riskbreakers nor going full divine, and I confess trying weird party or chars has been by far my biggest enjoyement.
I am not the kind of player who wants to know and investigates scripts, creature stats (I don't even know how many hp a coin or gem golem has), and don't want to. I prefer to still have surprise after some runs, I really don't find it fun at all to repeat exactly the same winning sequence against a foe over and over, it does not feel like any interesting nor enjoying way of playing.
Nonetheless, experience after some 15 runs of IA V6 shows profit and helps a lot on insane, at least enough to know most of the time how and when a fight is manageable with good accuracy.
Side thought: I just can't help thinking that some people who investigated all creature scripts and stats, tried hundreds if not thousands times each fight, cannot win on insane without blatant cheats and exploits...

Nicoper, congratulation for your insane run! This is an experience I am not able to repeat. And to be honest I will never try it for sure. Even reading this journal was painful. smile.gif

@vuki: thanks, don't think this "experience" is above you (or anybody else for that matter), it is just about patience and "suffering" a bit wink.gif.

It could be the biggest understatement ever. smile.gif

Did another try with EDE

Was quite happy to make it till all golems killed (and first rak wave).
It requests such patience and time to manage it on insane I did not find motivation to go on after second ultra was dead. Honesty is to say I would probably have lost against Prince, either because I don't have patience to micro manage each move or because odds to regain my lost HLAs through Wish are more than feeble, one Wish left for B->M and 2 scrolls lef for Necro.

Went with 5 barb for all apart Necro and Cernd
R->C with boots of the ranger lord and ring of free action was great tanking prince (though it means cannot GR)
Pasha heroic
Cernd under alacrities (2) killed half of rak wave
RBs, well, are RBs
B->M; scrolls of AI combined with hallberds and ASoS meant trouble for enemies
My bane here was amber golems....

This is the end, in the end party did not make it.

Pasha can kill one Ultra by himself. Djinni can take the other Ultra. If you don' want to wait for Pasha to finish off the other Ultra, you will have at most two Amber golems to deal with. Otherwise 1 Amber.
With that party you should breeze through the encounter even on insane.
Wish on B/M will not help you. Erase that from his spellbook. Necro has at least 10 Wishes, you don't need other 9 lvl spells for this fight. You need to start wishing for rest long after the Rakshasas are gone, when you run out IH, PFME and summons. Don't waste wishes before that.

Confesss I drove Pasha to help killing Supreme first. Problem is that after supreme is dead, Pasha focuses on elemental...
If Pasha is to take Ultra, may be means one more elemental from supreme, but thinking of it, it is less painful than amber-crowding pocketplane after all.
Will try it this way, thanks for giving me motivation to start again. wink.gif

I didn't smile.gif (though I have had many easy times on EDE with other parties, but on core. This party on core leaves no chance at all to Prince, even without rest nor GR)

Yes (had just one Wish with B->M memorized), for Necro I had mainly RVE (9), one Wish (and 3 scrolls) and one alacrity (use to cast it when rak spawn to remove magic on one hand and RoF/HoU ambers on the other hand)

Always Supreme first. And he will go fast with your party.
Bye the time you finish Supreme and his Elemental, you can tackle one Ultra (Djinnis usually). As long as you were out of their LoS until now, the Ultras will have no Ambers gated. As you start to work on them, they will gate an Amber. Kill the Amber before you move to the 2nd Ultra, so you can regen electricity.
Once the Ultras are dead, wait until Purge comes, then buff up and go see the Prince. He will gate the Noble and Horrids. You can keep the Prince busy in one of the Challenge Areas with Elite Trolls all this time, they are hasted.
Since you have no Sorcerer, put all Wish on Necro. B/M best to take Planetars. No need for Alacrity on Necro, you have two people to cast Remove Magic. That's 1 Remove Magic every 3 seconds.

Pasha NW with Ultra, Djinni SW with Ultra. Other Summons with the Price and lead him to the NE Challenge Area.
All your party stay close together and move South to the Supreme.
